Spud said on radio this morning had a lot of praise for how Freeman is going, and that if we weren't in the 8/in mix for finals he would probably be playing but we don't want to bring him into the AFL in a big high pressure, spotlight game.
Regardless of when he plays it will be a big high pressure afl game. Because of all the stuff that's been written about him it'll be headline stuff.

My thoughts are that we should get a game into him asap

If he drops out of form or God forbid he gets hurt then all of a sudden the opportunity passes to reward him for his efforts over 2 solid years of rehab.

Sure, every player has those same risks, but not every player has faced the adversity that freezer has. It would be a great team lifter too
Like when Jason Cripps finally came back from his nearly career ending hammy surgery.
He kicked the opening goal in the first minute and the Saints players and the crowd went absolutely bezerk. It was awesome:)
And then I think Adelaide kicked about 8 goals in a row and destroyed us

He needs to debut this year imo, just 1 game to get a taste of it and to get it out of the way so there's no big build up to it for next year.
Wouldn't chuck him in on the Friday night against Essendon, too much spotlight.
No to any of the interstate games.
No to the Demons game because they're a bunch of thugs and will probably injure him in some way.

They won't bring him in if he doesn't have a good vfl game the week prior, so might as well get it done and dusted now while he's in form and we're up against some softer opposition (not saying Tigers will be easy but they're not ones to beat up on teams).

Media pressure is one thing and it will make great story.

More concerned about game day intensity at AFL level.

Then again, his year at Sandy has been an extended preseason and he is getting different roles to play. And gaining match conditioning. What would I know?

If the club says he's ready... then bring it on!

If things go to shit and we end up looking like we won't make the finals, I'd like to see this in the last round*:

FB: Rice - Brown - Webster
HB: McKenzie - Carlisle - Gilbert
RK: Hickey - Steele - Armitage
CR: Savage - Freeman - Montagna
HF: Gresham - Marshall - Riewoldt
FF: Long - McCartin - Battle
IC: White Minchington Lonie Newnes

A few goodbyes, a few thanks for the memories', a few what have you gots and a couple of here's a tastes.

*zero chance, yes, I know.

savage for NOK!

He's been injured - repeatedly, granted.
He's been eased back into VFL, played a large number of games.
He's showing the AFL quality form for a number of weeks which is why we traded for him.
We have other non-performing players who need to be dropped.
But he's not in line for selection.

I don't get it.

Because the club know where his body is at. I reckon if he is handballing that much he hasn't got his pace back yet. Apart from a thrill to us I don't see the hurry. It isn't as if the club wouldn't be telling him where he is at.

Roo's first game and the Rats Tossbag's last game. Lost by 97 I reckon.

“If the Saints weren’t in the eight, he’d probably be playing now. You don’t want to bring the kid into a cut-and-thrust game like the Maddie Riewoldt game on Saturday night.

“He’s going extremely well, they’re wrapped with him down there at the moment.”

D. Frawley tonight. Speaking out of turn or have they had a change of heart?

Any mid has a real stinker and he has to come in. I'd consider dropping Dunstan and bringing in Freeman not only due to form but for midfield balance. Steele and Stevens have been racking up huge amounts of tackles and defensive pressure as well as doing inside work. Bring in Freeman and we get a bit more run to go with Steven.

Ross I count as a well rounded mid, does inside and run with roles and provides some good run and inside 50's. Overall I think in Freeze out Dunstan would be a good move in the next few weeks.
