Tough day for Kreugs, picked out of necessity. I'm not against seeing him in the side, but maybe give him some full games at VFL level before we consider again. I know it could hurt our structure a bit more but maybe we rely on Ruscoe and Murphy helping out Darcy, and Frampton rucks predominantly?

Copping some lashing in other threads. Surely no one expected him to dominate today ? He was always a high chance to be rusty and that was a hot contest. He has some attributes and will take him over Kelly any day.
Sure, he was definitely short of a gallop today and his limited VFL time this year didn't warrant a senior spot .... but out of necessity.
However, I have serious doubts about his future.
He is so uncoordinated and clumsy. He moves like a drunken baby giraffe. Nothing is smooth and he seems to be in a constant panic that nothing looks easy for him.
Sure, he has a great leap, but he is a "nearly" player. Gets his hands to the ball but just drops the mark. Fumbles and bumbles when he gets a touch. He's a bit of tease that just doesn't produce enough in the small sample we have seen.
I would be happy for him not to play ....... until he proves me wrong .... and not just ok form at VFL.
Kelly has him definitely covered.

Cox also is a baby giraffe and just ask Richmond how destructive they can be.

I'm prepared to see him fully fit and with full match fitness before I write him off.

He just needs to get some touch back by playing some consecutive games in the VFL. His effort is there but he was overly anxious and fumbly. He will be an asset when he calms his mind and just thinks his way through situations. His mind is chaotic as his approach to the footy.

Played limited minutes in the twos last week in anticipation of coming in today, despite that being his first game of footy since September last year.

Also didn't help that he had gastro over the weekend and didn't train with the squad.

I don't think there should be anyone writing him off. Had the worst possible preparation for the game but still provided a lot of effort. There's enough there to demonstrate he'll be a player provided he gets some continuity.

I don't see him playing against the Crows which is unfortunate because there's a VFL bye. But he does need a month or so in the twos just to get some touch back. Overall - battled hard today and will be better for the run.

Even though we essentially had to give up on him today, I personally saw glimpses of the serious potential that Nathan has. I feel as if he is a very unique player - he deals in athletic brutality and I for one have always found his speed and attack on the ball very impressive. It would certainly seem as though our coaching staff agree as they have been inclined to play in him every game they possibly can, including the prelim last year.

IF (and it's a big if) his body can hold together and he can get himself back into good touch, I think he could be a serious weapon - splitting packs and kicking anywhere from 2 to 4 goals a game. I know that might sound like a big call, but just like Ash Johnson: this fella has something special and I think if we can see it through, we will be generously rewarded with some freakish performances.

Agree showed signs today of what he can be if he can stay fit. Other than that, can't judge him on this one, only playing through necessity and will take time to work his way into it.

To all that thought Kreuger "showed signs" yesterday of his potential. Please articulate what those signs were.

To me he showed nothing in the ruck. Didn't even win a hitout.

That'd fine if he is not a ruckman BUT he shouldn't be picked in the first team if his role on gameday is to give Frampton a chop out. Because he is not up to it for this particular role. He also showed no forward craft and gave away too many dumb free kicks.

The main thing was he survived a game of AFL.

The value of Kruegs is his ability to create spillage from marking contests. And no not the spillage from his uncontested mark lol

The ability to create a stoppage in our forward line is very underrated but an important part of our game style.

Fly said pre-game that Kreuger would only play 66% game time and they did just that. He was always going to be slightly off the pace in terms of ball-handling. But I thought he acquitted himself well, all things considered, and I was pleased he got through the match. He will be better for the run, and he will likely have more confidence in his shoulder as well.

He bolted around the forward line like an adolescent giraffe let off his leash, almost took a couple of screamers, and almost decapitated an opposition player. He created a bit of chaos and kamikaze'd a few contests, but looked a fair way off finding touch and obviously needed the run. He will be much better for it but hard to see how he stays injury-free the way he plays, (voice in his head, "see ball, attack ball").

Seems in desperate need of winning a car by trying to take "Mark of the Year" and seems so awkward on the ground let alone in the air. Jeremy Howe been robbed of that award.

Anyone with any sense knew Krueger had no right to be playing yesterday given the worst preparation possible but play he did because we had run of soldiers to fill a key position sized hole.

So why are some people surprised by how he went?

One plus for me was that he landed heavily on a shoulder at one stage, got up and felt for it immediately but it seemingly held up. That's a start.

The other plus was that he hurt at least 1 or perhaps 2 Essendon players with his size and attack on the ball.

On a day not much went right for him (not surprisingly) I do still admire his willingness to crack in after all his injury setbacks.

Deserves a change of luck with his body and unless he does in reality we don't even know what exactly we've got.

This. Some people jump easily on the blame bandwagon. Have a though where he is coming from - half a VFL game and then almost no training at all during the week. At least give him some slack

Anyone who does not think this guy is Sean Rusling 2.0 is kidding themselves

get rid of him we are wasting our time.
