Rolan Roberts.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. At least he's a big black man.

Roster should be reasonable if we can keep Homicide.

36ers are testing out John Gilchrist?

IIRC that's the dude who was once projected a 1st round draft pick in the NBA, and then got his coach and team mates to start hating him, where he then became undrafted.

That's him. Regardless of his coach issues, on talent alone he was never really a 1st round guy. Will be a good pick up for the 36ers, reasonable but not great at everything. I do remember him in the ACC tourney where he had something like 20-10-8 to lead the terps over a far superior Duke team in OT. Whoever's running the 36ers obviously has an understanding of the concept ACC tourney MVP = NBL superstud first with Hodge, now Gilchrist

Ch10 Perth reported Martin Cattalini (the local boy), and Paul Rogers had signed up.

I'll miss Cat :(

Dusty Rychart joins Cairns

:thumbsu: Two seasons, I think. Will be a good addition

Darnell Mee has confirmed he wont be playing for Cairns next year. Taipans coach Aaron Fearne said this week they were keen to look to youth rather than re-sign Mee. I think he's 37/38 (give or take) these days.. He is reportedly looking into getting a coaching gig. Best of luck to him. Was a great player for us :thumbsu:

Grabau has resigned for the Taipans & Phil Jones is another new addition. Sure to bring some experience.

Maryland? #18?

he was a great college player

New logo/naming rights sponsor tomorrow and a TV announced soon after.

The league will go back to the sponsors name ala 'Mitsubishi challenge' and the TV is exclusive to Fox only it seems, no regional or OneHD which is shit but...beggars (extreme beggars in this situation) cant be choosers.

how the fudge is this supposed to generate any popularity for the game in OZ? get 10 on board to show a few games each weekend like they used to, will do wonders for the league

Cairns has signed 29 year old import Rich Melzer. Averaged 18.6 ppg & 7.4 rpg in his only NBL season with the Breakers in the 05/06 season. I think he's been at the Spurs since.

Taipans starting to look like having a decent squad. Hopefully we can improve on last year. (Shouldn't be too hard)

Adelaide signs Cortez Groves

and this

Read this article in today's The Age:

"BASKETBALL Australia boss Larry Sengstock has boldly declared there will be Sydney and Brisbane teams in the National Basketball League by this time next year."

"A grassroots bid backed by Basketball Queensland appears to be that state's best hope of NBL involvement. BA is seeking a more corporate-style presence in Sydney."

As pointed out in a few other threads, talk has been quiet on the Sydney front, but here is some positive signs...

Can it be done? I think the Brisbane option is more likely. Do Sydney deserve a team?

The National Basketball League’s long association with Australia’s leading sports broadcaster FOX SPORTS is set to continue, with the announcement of a new agreement with Basketball Australia for the 2009/10 NBL season and the Boomers and Opals international matches.

The agreement will see FOX SPORTS broadcast over 50 matches live starting in September, including every game of the 2009/10 NBL Finals series[more...]

Good news. :thumbsu:

Even if half of them are ****ing Breakers games.

Still, as someone who gets to see their team once (twice if I'm lucky) a season - I can't really complain with the coverage.

Even if half of them are ****ing Breakers games.

That will only happen with their home games – so 11 game.

Away games are not covered by their TV network or foxtel unless it’s a foxtel game of the week.

NBL signs a major sponsor in OAMPS Insurance, and apparently Dwayne Russell, Brian Taylor, Shane Heal and Andrew Gaze are your commentators for this upcoming season.

NBL coverage now based out of Melbourne HQ seems to have given these guys a gig on the NBL.

Good. happy with that. :thumbsu:

Larry Legend may not be Larry Bird for much longer if Larry Stenstock keep going this way. :thumbsu:

So Boti in the Adelaide whatever today said

Here we are: http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,25953971-5006371,00.html

that the sponsorship deal from OAMPS is only for the league, but isnt a naming rights sponsor ala 'Mitsubishi Challenge' so the NBL should be announcing a naming rights sponsor soon.

More cash in the coffers at the NBL. OAMPS also offers a variety of insurance options and will invest in NBL programs such as in Darwin.

Hmmm, if only we had 3 more teams in the league I'd like where this all was headed.

New NBL website to be launched next week as well I believe, which is rather necessary as the season is 5 weeks away now.
