I thought the chants were pretty funny actually, able to hear them very easily on the broadcast, as lame as they were it was still pretty entertaining. Dont think ennis is one you want to rile up though, he is heads and shoulders above anyone in the league and can turn it on pretty quickly

All three turned in top-notch performances, so I'd say that the targeted chants backfired!

Loved watching Ennis on friday night, the Arena went collectively off its heads. It wasn't even the dunks, it was the fact it was there he goes, and then immediately thereafter THERE HE GOES AGAIN! Brutal domination, 15-0 run when the game was in the balance speaks volumes for the Cats' qualities.

Agree, the last 6 minutes inside the Arena was as good as the finals atmosphere against NZ in game 2 last year, really hope he plays out the full year, which i suspect he will, fanastic to watch

Jervis has been huge this year, more than happy with his output so far, the commentators loved his work yesterday, id he could polish off his inside finishing just a touch he would be a complete player IMO. Didn't realise until i saw the box scores on saturday that he had 6 blocks on friday, he defends really well

Also gives us a lot more leeway when it comes to getting Knight and his ankles right, and being able to manage his minutes upon return better.

I've always thought Matty Knight should play at the 4 instead of the 5 because he is such an offensive threat and will stretch the defense out as he can shoot mid range jumpers well. Would have loved to have seen him and dunigan play a lot together last year, but obviously couldn't happen. I think jervis, Knight, Redhage, Ennis, Martin Should be the starting 5, been a little disappointed with beal so far, hopefully just transitioning to the league and the new team

Kinda got me thinking... would Ennis even know what a drop kick is? Dunno if they use that term in the States!

Jervis reminds me of J-Pod circa 2010.

I'd highly doubt he knows, nor cares. I know its early but i think the MVP award is his to lose.
Also dont like the "let down" call, im not sure who he has let down? Miami were never going to have him on their roster as they physically couldnt pay him, instead of playing d league he chose to play hear on about 5 times as much money so he could support his financially stricken family and he is going to bring more people through the gate just to watch him play. Unlike some US imports who come over here with too much bravado and arrogance, he seems like he is here to buckle down play well with the intention of getting to the NBA, but is not sacrificing the team for his own betterment, I'm very impressed with him

Yes, drop kick does get use in the States but I don't think it applies (or that he would think it applies) in this case.

I don't like the let down call, either, Noctorniquet. Looking at his career thus far, he's worked his way up from the lowest college levels and distinguished himself with his performances, resulting ultimately in the NBA draft. I think he'd be pretty pleased at where he's got to, actually, and he's still young enough that he's got quite a ways that he could go.

Beal has scorched my dream team over that round :( Lost 23,000 (20%) in value just over that round.

Now I don't know what to do with him, keep him on bench and see if he turns it around or cut my losses setting me way back. He's in one of the worst shooting funks ever! something like 6/30 fg over the 1st 3 games, 0/9 against Tigers.

I brought him into my team this week whilst his value is low (for Corletto). I reckon he is due for a breakout game, and considering the Wildcats have two games this week, he has two shots at it.

Went to my first NBL games in nearly 15 years.

Positives:
  • The standard of play is better than its ever been
  • The atmosphere inside the Cage was excellent. Small and intimate
  • The game moves briskly. No excessive time outs, TV time outs etc
Negatives

  • $40 a ticket? No.
  • Got there at 1.30. Car park full. Went to the zoo next door. Car park full. Had to park a 15 minute walk away in a residential street.
  • FFS stop playing the music constantly. 90 secs to go, scores level, Rhianna is blaring. I dont know how the players can communictate. Let the game create its own noise

I've been voicing my angst about this for some time now. It seems some teams are starting to take notice. You'll see that the Kings played hardly any music in their first home game. Melbourne and Adelaide are still playing a lot of the terrible pop music during play but it seems they are slowly easing off. From what I can tell, Perth, NZ, Townsville and to an extent, Cairns are the worst offenders.

It has prevented me from going to games in the past because it's so damn annoying. Not sure why they can't just stick to music during breaks? When in-play, stick to the drumbs/beats they use in the NBA. I used to think they did it because of small crowd sizes where they thought it would add more atmosphere, but even Perth are playing non stop music when they have 10k people.

Constant music is also really bad for the broadcaster. It drowns out crowd noise on big plays, but it also means you can't hear a word the commentators are saying.

1000 x Agree, I don't mind it at the opening tip and in perth they always do it coming out of 3 qtr time but apart from that at a maximum no more at all, especially given the songs are sh!t

I found out yesterday that Tony Cochrane is a part of the NBL. There goes any chance I have of going to an NBL game, with that spanner trying to flog money off me. I can now see instigator of the move for the NBL to break away from the sport's governing body. So now, there's going to be an endless amount of gimmicks the NBL will attempt to get anybody to come. Every year there'll be, from what I suspect, bs rules introduced, which remove itself from "normal" basketball. Just wait til you see the rule introduced for "equality". Just wait til all he does is use music to "promote" the sport. Flogging govt money to host games away from bball courts. Then, there'll be a reduced TV rights deal, but he'll have made tonnes of money out of it.

Is the ball different in NBL vs NBA? Might just be me but the ball seems to bounce around a lot more in NBL. Like it's got a higher bounce.
