Should be a good game tomorrow.
Hard to argue against Southport exacting revenge on the Hornets, but i hope i'm wrong.

Yes, should be a tough tussle. Went and watched the Div 2 Grand Final today between Robina and Coop. Kings. Don't know what happened to Robina,, just were not there on the day, Kings belted them from the start.Kings were super in their pressure and hit their opponents with fierce tackling and some massive hip and shoulder bumps, whilst Robina were undisciplined giving away numerous silly free kicks.Fulton bagged 6 of their 9 goals, great effort.
Must comment, the playing surface at Yeronga is in superb nick.

Aspley were far to good for the Sharks today. Not that the Sharks played badly, they were just beaten by a much better side.Coach Blair is just a gun,,,, has taken over as coach this season with a lesser talented list compared to the last 2 or 3 years, and look what he has done.
Should be a great contest next week. Will the full strength Lions prevail due to freshness or find the going real tough match fitness wise, as by next sunday they only would of played 1 game in 4 weeks.

gawd, i really hope aspley can get up, sick of seeing the Lions bully this comp (on and off the field).

Congrats Hayden Kiel grogan medal winner and stiller the syd Guilford.
Pretty poor form from Keil and Southport last night, Keil got up admitted he was drunk dropped an f bomb and stumbled whilst wearing his bes Cavil ave gear, so NEAFL officials being the proffessionals that they are handed him a champagne to top him off....

Saw the NEAFL team of the year on web site...surely they are joking!! Announcing this team on the same night as the
Grogan medal count, you would think there would be some consistencies....ummmm nope..Redlands Tom salter finishes equal fourth in grogan, but can get in 22 NEAFL team of year. They are kidding surely! Jordan Lisle from Lions polls 12 votes from limited games and can't get in. Ryan Pantic comes in seventh in Grogan and is clearly one of the best mid fielders in the comp but gets overlooked in the 22. Big Brewer is highest ranking ruckman according to medal count but overlooked for starting line up. Not sure who is picking this team and on what criteria, but announcing it on Grogan night makes a mockery of umpires votes and appears disrespectful.

Penny just dropped...surely could be state selectors (some say old boys club) picking team to justify their selections earlier in the year..surely?....

Yesterday,
cannot agree more with you... just goes to show that Qld footy looks likes a dogs breakfast at the moment,,, all over the place. Tim Nottings twitters the other week that got him suspended, obviously hit a raw nerve amongst the AFL/AFLQ heirachy.... boys club, yes , it appears this certainly exist.

How Ryan Pantic did not even get nominated for the Syd Guilford is astounding. Clearly one of the best midfielders in the comp let alone team of the year.

Kittycat,
agree... And what about Big Mitch Brewer..in the game against Redlands, he had some 40 plus hitouts, rotated between the ruck and full forward, kicked 7 goals, and didn't get a vote from the umpires ... and Luke Shreeve, in 4 or 5 games he absolutely carved up on his wing , yet didn't receive 1 vote ... and there are many other examples from all clubs in regards to this. Congrats to Keil on his win, but geez I thought there were at least 4 or 5 players at other clubs that should of won the Grogan. And a southport player wins the reserve grade medal as well.Congrats to him.No more said on this matter.

Questions being asked at Southport? No senior Gf appearance since 2008.
Panthers 3 of top 10 in RIsing star. That's what Qld footy is about. Development of kids. None of the crap the puppets want.
Hope Crowd for this week ends GF is much larger than the prelim. Shithouse to be honest. Double the people at the soccer game across the road..Great for Aspley to take their bus over. Having Dan RIch plastered all over it a bit extreme in the complex of last weeks shenanigans.

Confident reasonable number of Morningside supporters will be there to support the Reserves at 10am. Not so sure how many will hang around for the whole of the next game though...

chikka,

Agree on the above Re: Southport, also if the reports (hear say at this point in time) are true that Southport Seniors had their Mad Monday celebration after their Prelim Final loss, (sounds like Hayden did at least, by all reports that is) then it does not say much about their famous culture when their Reserves and Rising Stars are still yet to play in the G/F this Sunday.

Morningside a truly great club for achievements, culture and for promoting youth, they will be back in the top tier of Queensland AFL sooner than later (I hope), I noticed the Courier Mail had named ex Morningside junior Lee Spurr (Freemantle) in their AFL team of the year but as Luke Spurr - please that's like calling our Ex never to be seen again we hope, Prime Minister and your Morningside Stalwart and number one supporter - Kelvin Rudd!!!!!!

Yeronga is a very isolated area public transport wise, with not a lot of atmosphere unless they are playing soccer at the ground across the road, Graham Rd would have been a much better choice IMO for the Grand Final - parking will be difficult if the soccer is on again this Sunday.

The word at Yeronga on Sunday was that Daniel Rich pushed the Aspley bus there!!

Great result that Aspley get to host cross over GF. One of the better recent decisions by administrators..
why not at Yeronga? what are your tips for the GF this weekend? there was alot of love in the room for Aspley on Monday night alot of their officials saying that is their destiny to win on Sunday?

Yesterday, surely you must be joking?
The votes given by the umpires on the night were so far off the mark it was embarrassing. You really don't think the team of the year should be pick off them do you?
Honestly, you have to wonder what the umpires are watching most weeks.
Surely there has to be a better system to judge the best player for the season (and this is in all leagues, not just NEAFL) than having the umpires try to pick three players after the game.
It's really is embarrassing to be honest.

Peanut, I don't disagree with you in regard to Umpires votes (similar to Brownlow) being a little strange. Some great players who earned Syd Guilford nominations don't even get a single vote FFS!

We can all find glaring examples of outstanding games by players that don't go rewarded. However, this point is only emphasised by the league itself when it comes out and releases its own team of the year. To me, this is a massive slap in the face to the umpires and it undermines the event. Imagine on Brownlow night, an AFL team of the year is announced in competition to the Brownlow!!! Think it just ridicules the already weird.

Rick White not in the best NEAFL side, Tom Salter not in it, Ryan Pantic not in.....the list goes on. Who the hell picks the side!!!

I've been trying to find a fill list of vote getters, but amazingly, no list on NEAFL web site.

Hey, fellow posters,
go into the AFLQ website , news section, and look at the reviews on the grand final being written by a female journalist in the name of Beth Newman.yesterday she previewed the backline tussle, today the midfield tussle, and obviously in the next 2 days will preview the forward line , followers etc .
This is great stuff and builds to the excitement of the game coming up.Great reporting in giving the game more exposure . We don't see nothing like this from the NEAFL journalist !! Just a general overview of the game on Fridays.
