Re: NEAFL - Northern Conference - Season 2011

I think you may be close to the money. Those who dismiss Southport may be very surprised. Suns will be impossible to predict - they may not rest their younger brigade as season progresses. Have 1 game against Swans and one more against GWS but these are at home I think, they play Thunder in Cairns which I believe they will win.

this is coming from someone who is running a distant last in the tipping comp !

Thunderdoc,

Stick to calculating your frequent flier points Doc, that looks a lot easier than trying to calculate the final ladder positions top 5 at the moment might not look the same at seasons end IMHO.

OK...i'll play

NT Clear favourites
Redland Hot & cold.....but hot is very good
Vultures As above....going through a rough patch but should strike back
Cats As above...on good day could beat anyome
Morningside Not so sure..easy win over Tigers but like the others lack consistency
Aspley Solid team but not up to top 5
Suns Reckon mid season and croos over games will hurt
Tigers More injuries follwing the belting on the weekend...next few weeks critical
Sharks Still 2- 7....long way back...and still sense things arent right in the camp
Lions As per Suns.....mid deason, cross over games...depth.....not promising

It is great that halfway through the season and predicting the ladder is just as difficult as before the year. The only known is that NT will be the minor premier. The other 9 teams can all beat each other on any given day, depends who is on and who is flat.

It has been tight and tough all year with one result moving teams 5 places on the ladder. I suspect that 9-9 with good percentage will get in (someone will miss due to poor percentage most likely).

Lions look unlikely- they will put the cue in the rack with the seniors towards the end of the year and get blokes their operations before pre season starts. Big Dan Merrett I see out for a while. Reduces their listed players.

Sharks were good on Sunday and will win a few. But they can only lose 2 more (max) to play finals and that is tough when there are no gimme games.

Tigers need to bounce back quickly or they will be up against it.

Cats have lost their early season hot form, and like the Tigers need to start winning again soon.

Redland- on their day are very tough to beat, but at the end of the day they are 4-5, one suspects they will get it together but who knows? They have played NT twice so far though.

Aspley- seem to be capable of beating anybody on their day. Most peoples tip for the spoon, so good on them for being in contention half way through.

Suns- Will fade and miss finals IMO as the 2 byes early in the season in the seniors (and therfore 14 games straight) means that injuries and player management etc will be put well ahead of winning reserves matches. Their crossovers are more difficult than the local clubs.

Mt G- lost 2 close ones but at their best are the second top team, and I think will finish top 3.

Morningside- got some percentage back on the weekend and look "back". With Birdbet they have managed to be the favourite for the flag after round 2 and a couple of weeks later the favourite for the spoon. This week they will be back in the top couple of favourites for the flag again and rightly so.

NT- could go undefeated.

The AFL would love to have a comp so even and unpredictable. There are 6-7 pretty poor teams, and does anyone really think that the top 4 is not already a foregone conclusion...

Kidding yourself once again.Gough has retired and is very happy to stay that way.He is enjoying himself in the Panthers corporate area at Esplen Oval on match day.Rogers will not be back til next year.

Is your nose getting longer Chikka?

Also heard Rogers a good chance to get back as well.

I see that you can now bet on NT getting beaten.
NT - First loss

Round 11 - Brisbane $4.5
Round 13 - Aspley $8
Round 14 - GWS - $5
Round 15 - Morningside $6
Round 16 - Gold Coast $8
Round 17 - Broadbeach $34
Round 19 - GWS $14
Round 20 - Mt Gravatt $41
Round 21 - Labrador - $101

Undefeated Home and Away - $26

Round 15 Morningside looks ok. and undefeated all year is fairly juicy.

Chikka

Any truth in the rumour that Goughy wants to move his Corporate Hospitality area at Esplen Oval to the interchange bench for home games

People are kidding themselves if they think Thunder will go undefeated, what hope of a win at Blacktown, also wins at Cairns and Morningside highly unlikely

Load up, I agree Panthers almost certain. but you will probably get $2.30 next week if they lose to Suns Sat. I will have a look at it and try to recover a few losses LOL

Suns will have a lot to do a lot more this week if they are going to get over the Sidders in this weeks comming fixture round, my spy in Sydney tells me that the 3 best players mentioned (and only ones named) for the Suns would have had only 15 possessions in total between them all day - lets hope they find the footy a lot more this week or they may be in jeopardy of missing the final five action this year.

Mt Gravatt over Southport narrowly.
Suns Reserves with perhaps their best side in all year- by 6 goals
Redland over Aspley in a crunch game- why is it moved to Graham Rd?
NT to whack the Lions by 10-12 goals although losing Tyrell hurts
Broadbeach to beat Lab by 6 goals in a physical contest
