On finals grounds, if not for the facilities Zillmere makes for a reasonable oval. Plenty of viewing space, a good surface and good size.
Go through all the NEAFL Qld based teams grounds:
Morningside: Good ground but doesnt handle crowds
Aspley: Tight Ground - minimal vehicle access
Mt Gravatt - great ground to watch footy but a smallish Ground - restricted vehicle access
Redlands - Good ground - minimal vehicle access
Brisbane - Gabba - great ground - but too big
Suns- Carrara - great ground - but too big
Southport - better ground to watch football now that car path and parking has been built by hospital builder. Still ordinary amenities for public around ground for this level of comp.
Labrador - awful playing field
Broadbeach - good ground to watch & park.
Cooparoo - Good - ordinary amenities.
Yeronga- Unknown - few amenities..?
what about player/official facilities
Southport now very good
Broadbeach - visitors room could be better
Labrador - visitors rooms poor
Aspley - visitors rooms no hand basins, no permanent coaches box for visitors, ground will be poor by Septemeber with amount of traffic
Mt Gravatt - visitors rooms size of cubby house
Zillmere - needs visitors coach box but rooms are good
Yeronga unknown
Morningside - visitors rooms laughable but soon to change I heard !
Redlands - visitors rooms too small
Cooparoo - visitors rooms poor
The integrity of the competition must also be considered and if a Gold Coast side finishes above a Brisbane side on the ladder then it must be held on the coast, why should the Minor Premiers travel to play in Brisbane as was the case last year.
play it at beenleigh
maybe they didn't want the same backlash they got after the 2006 prelim final when they gave southport the home final for that game. that game should have been played at either coorparoo or broadbeach
Last years GF should have been played at Broadbeach, why should another GC team be punished for what happened in 2006?, perhaps it has more to do with the teams themselves.

Agree about the fantastic facilities, but the crowd would get lost. Far to big a facility for a crowd of 5000 absolute maximium. Much better at a surburban ground that creates an atmosphere. Grange was a great choice for PHC GF last year, admittedly didnt go to State league at Cooparoo so cant comment.
it's still a 27k seat stadium and they would more than likely put them in one small area of the stadium like they did when they last played the grand final at the gabba. suburban grounds are perfect for this leagues grand final. i don't know why they keep looking at the big stadiums to use as for the grand final venues. it's not as if they would fill them

Panthers won't complain in winning another flag on the coast.1st 2 finals last yr on the coast.Smashed sharks and lost a cracker to Labrador in major semi.
If this is the case a arguement must be made then that if Thunder finish 1st do they host Gf if they qualify.

Southport over Lions
Morningside over Broadbeach
Redlands over thunder !! (forecast for 6 degrees in Alice)
Labrador over Suns
Chikka, don't recall Morningside ever winning a flag on the coast.
Simple answer, Yes. All teams interests should be important in the NEAFL.
Meant winning another flag, doesn't matter where Gf played.
Eagles 1st team in 06 to qualify after beating Broady and Sharks on the coast and Gf was played on the coast.
Vultures in 07,best team by far all year and Gf on coast.
2 teams from the coast qualify then play it down there. If not, nothing wrong with Coorparoo apart from away rooms and gale force winds which usually hit
