Interesting about McLeod. Who else has NT lost? There was a rumour that Ewing wast playing there this year..anyone got the mail on this?

Maurie,
dont know about Eweing not playing. I see he has been playing in the ntfl comp at the moment, played only 6 games at the round 14 mark...which. may be because of injury. otherwise ,I dont know.We need to hear from our forum mate at the Thunder.. be it Chops.( but hes been quiet on this forum since they won the NEAFL flag 4 months ago.)

if southport have gotten younger and added a bit of speed to the ranks. they are going to be threat this year. broadie are going to give every team a big challenge this year i reckon

Have to agree about Broadbeach...they certainly have been proactive over summer judging by the above posts...

Broadbeach have announced the first of their WA signings. The guy is Jordon Eastdown , a small 23 yr old on baller who has played 23 senior WAFL games. Has won b&f in the WAFL colts and in WAFL reserve grade .Should be handy in this league.

The following players have signed for Thunder in 2012 - Narby Kelly, Corey Kelly, Tavis Perry, Nathan Brown, Jason Roe, Jake Dignan, Darren Ewing, Kenrick Tyrrell, Shaun Tapp, Matthew Argus, Lachlan Argus, Jack McEwin, Brad Vassal, Cameron Ilett, Josh Chaplin, Kevin Vearncombe, Matthew Rosier, Kieren Smith, Chris Dunne, Jai Pumphrey, Gareth Remfrey, Kelvin Williams, Dean Staunton, William Farrer, Ash Duncan, Braedon McLean, Duncan Seden, Ben Rioli and Jarrod Stokes.

Departures - Cam Roberts, Andrew McLeod, Jarred Ilett (Thunder's new CEO) have retired. Karl Lohde (overseas), Dane Bergman (overseas), Josh Watson (Subiaco), Shannon Rioli (Box Hill), Brad Palipuaminni (Sydney Hills), Iggy Vallejo, Aaron Motlop and Ryan Smith won't be at the club. Ross Tungatalum also very doubtful.

Might still be handy......lol

Time we got a bit serious here..going as quiet as the NEAFL web site....sheessshhh

Lets have predictions for Ladder 1 - 10: Grogan Medalist -Top Goalkicker & Draft Watches :

Thunder- some serious losses (how do you replace a Macleod???) , but still great list, great budget and great back up. Definitely team to beat.

Vultures- Ok, I have reassessed. Lost a few but all the crap about Gilliland leaving tuned out to be zip. Andy doing well…great bunch of young talent mixed with experienced older heads. Reckon the pain of 2011 will drive to a GF berth.

Hornets- Serious recruiting as you would expect with the backing of a rich Licensed Club. Matty Payne, Travis Johnstone, Stanley, Daye, Manzone,

Cats- Seemed to have recruited well from posts in here – Neagle the standout to join Eagle up front. That looks tuff to hold out. Everington, Urie, Stockdale, Proud all good gets. Do they compensate for Zorko, Walton & Rolfe’s??

Suns- McQualter will be good for the two’s. Their list looks better...still don’t know the deal with how many on their list, who they can call on to top up, or their desire to go in if they make finals.

Sharks- Payne a massive loss...Harvey, Kiel (they tell me he’s been in a good paddock!) and Pope are the gets…not to sure if the pluses outweigh the losses.

Lions- No idea and just a punt here….haven’t been flash in this comp lately, but if they have numbers they could knock over anyone.

Panthers- Big cultural change – losing key players and glue in John Blair. Can they rebound?

Tigers- Lose Wrigley, Jones & Stockdale.....no

Bombers- Gone backwards

Grogan: Gilliland
Goalkicker: Ewing
Draft: Bourke, Boston, Ives, Cameron

Umm..with respect Damo.. thats like having a bet on the horse after they have jumped..

well seeing that the preseason is only a month away. any predictions now and saying how good a team is now. is just pure speculation. this time last year a majority of you had aspley running stone motherless and i had southport winning the flag we won't know how good teams are going to be until they start playing games, fact

Has Gilliland committed to Vultures? No for a fact that he has spoken with Southport,Morningside and Aspley.Still in America so fitness may be a issue on return.Players from Mt Gravatt still haven't been paid for last year, tough times ahead for them.

Hope that's not true about match payments from last year. Very hard to keep everyone together if that's true. If they lost Gilliland it would really cost them - he is in the top 5 Players in the comp IMO and one of the few that can win a game off his own boot. How do u know staminade? Have the Mounties picked any up?

have heard the same thing, and that if they dont get the books right and the funds going will look to play seqafl in the next year or two (last option)

Would be a shame for a very proud club. At the end of the day noone has an entitlement to play in the top comp. You would think that it could be the opening for a sunshine coast side but IMO not really an option for 5 years.

Thats a big loss of experienced players. Will be very interesting to see the Thunders results this season. I feel they will still be right up there, but not to the tune of 2011.On the other hand , could be wrong.Gametime will tell.

I guy that played for Redland last year by the name of Will Overs is shoping him self around our way can he play what type of year did he have last year did he play key position in the NEAFL

My source at Council tells me the Broadbeach/Kurrawa surf club deal has been thrown out, hope the club has been buying their scratchies and is a good week to grab a quickpick.

Suns;Good enough but will they pull the pin, seniors won't make finals.
Aspley; recruited well but were already on an up curve just needed belief.
Labrador: Big, strong and very tight unit.
NT Thunder; climbed the mountain, are in transition.
Broadbeach; as long as the money lasts.
Redlands; won last years reserves g/f ,forced to locals but youth rarely lets you down.
Lions; better depth.
Southport; the times they are a changing.
Morningside; over the mountain and heading down the other side, without their guide.
Mt Gravatt; Lake was the glue here and three other roles he filled, rebuild and consolidation time.

Grogan; needs credibility restored.
Goalkicking: Ewing

Suns : on paper and with their list one year older should almost be unbeatable, will find it very difficult not to finish in top 3 and will make it hard to exit early
Labrador : dreadful in 2011 and will need to improve greatly and have a cop of significant losses
Southport : I can't believe they can underachieve 2 years running and if Cleve Hughes and Wade Mills are fit will be a force. Dismiss them at your peril !
Broadbeach : Zorko a huge loss, but will obviously have a completely different game plan (that is not the 2011 plan : Give it to Zorko), some good buys and with an astute coach amy be a real surprise packet
Aspley : some gains and losses, my concern is lack of size and how good are these new recruits. Payne must be ageing !!!
Mt Gravatt : David Lake a huge loss and their are the Gilliland rumours !
May struggle
Thunder : loss of lots of experienced players but they always find some new stars. Word is Ash Duncan is a superstar and throw him into the midfield with Cam Ilett and the most underrated player in the comp in Jake Dignan and they have a dynamic mid-field.
Redlands : made the finals once in the history and I think will underachieve again
Morningside : new coach, new gains and don't forget were runners-up in 2011 without Kinch and an unfit Bonney. Under 18 premiers by a country mile. they will still be on the mark
Lions : couldn't possibly be any worse than 2011

Grogan : Payne
Goalkicking : Hughes
5 : Suns, thunder, southport, Morningside, Broadbeach
