Because they print new ones every year so it doesn't actually make a difference?
I have no doubt that it will still cost millions.

They had to do months of "research" for this one. Who knows what that cost?

Yeah but it's the design. The changing of monarch won't affect that. They'll just replace her picture with Charles'.

And as I said, it will somehow end up costing millions.

It won't make a speck of difference. The government is already in a decent debt and a million dollars is like spare change to the treasury.

Seems like a pretty pointless change. They missed a chance to honour an Australian rather than some unemployed British woman.

At least you can still make a whale sucking dick.

Current government policy indicates a move to becoming Republic will begin when QE dies. So given there's a a chance that'll happen fairly soon and that they will probably have to redisgn it upon becoming a republic I think they could've held off and saved some money

Probably won't change that until Australia becomes a republic, when that happens I'm waiting for warrick capper to get on the hundred

I'll give you a top tip. Changing to a Republic (an utterly pointless move) would cost more than redesigning the $5 note could ever cost.

This. All day everyday.

Reading the article and realising the blue is the clear part, I don't mind it.. but they should give me 1000 of them to think it over.

It was a very weird image to release wasn't it? I think most people assumed that the blue was part of the design and that's what has drawn most of the criticism.

I agree it looks pretty good with the clear panel. My only gripes are that the update is quite conservative and the monotone portrait of the Queen is not well integrated with the overall design. She's just kinda floating on top.
