When has Caroline Wilson ever named a source? You seem to take what she says as gospel. You seem to have standards of journalism which tend to adjust based on your own personal agenda. How fortunate your standards are so portable. It must be convenient for you.

Difference is Caroline Wilson sources would be involved in football, ie there will be consequences for them if they are named, probably even lose their job.

I can't see what anyone who just happened to be sitting in the cafe would have to lose, yet not one person has come out and backed the story yet. Curious.

Plenty of stories have been written, read and believed by the newspaper reading public in which journalists have provided facts by sources they don't name. In fact, there isn't a journalist around that would reveal the names of their sources (remember two Herald Sun journalists a couple of years ago were threatened with jail yet still refused to reveal their sources). It is a code of conduct understood and practised by journalists the world over. Journalists everywhere have sources which feed them information on the basis of privacy (see most political stories). Generally where there is smoke, there's fire.

See my post above. Football related sources could face serious consequences from their employer which is why journos are so fervent about protecting their source.

What do a bunch of random people sitting in a cafe have to lose?

Maybe they are not random and have a lot to lose from the way the AFL is being run as a personal fiefdom under the control of the dictator.
The moment AD and Gale sue , all will come out into the open and that is why they are not suing.
All the defendants of AD and Gale here have not answered the question.
Why don't the pea hearts sue?

Maybe, far too coincidental though wouldn't you say?

And if AD was 'foghorn' -ing away as described in the article, I can't believe no-one else heard.

Only other alternative is every other cafe patron that was there is involved in some way with the AFL and scared to come forward, which obviously isn't the case.

Interesting take. So by extension if the head of your union was party to talks aimed at removing your position its ok as long as there are other jobs out there in your industry? His job is to represent players interests, his players in this instance are VERY interested in playing for a Melbourne based team.

Of course, looking at it from the perspective of the individual North players who may be displaced, losing the Kangaroos would be a major upheaval for them. Of the forty or so players on their list, probably less than thirty would ever find their way back onto the playing list of another Vic club.

But this is not like your local steel mill moving shop to India at the expense of the jobs of forty local workers. These are elite sportsmen who's skills are in demand because they are part of the upper echelon in their profession. Men who can do a job that others simply cannot do. For the majority of this "displaced forty" their livelihood is secure, even if it does mean a possible shift in living arrangements.

FWIW, I want North to survive, and if it's possible, to do so in Melbourne. I am not one of these opposition supporters baying for blood or deriving any enjoyment from watching a club such as North go down the tube. I hope that we can sustain and preserve the League exactly as it is now, including both yours and my club. But if it's economically unviable that North remain in Melbourne, and if it places a strain on the survival of mine and the other eight Victorian clubs in the long term, then I would much prefer them to shift intact and retain their other traditions rather than see another manufactured Brisbane Bears debacle.
