Don't like Latin quotes smacks of pretentious wannabe's the sort of excreta we see on our neighbours kit. A big fat yuck from me.

Yeah unless you started with a latin statement as part of your branding, you shouldn't be implementing it now.

Have you heard anything at all around the industry about what is happening for us moving forward? They were sort of ambiguous as to whether the logo would be permanent when it was introduced for the 150th. I think the 150th branding has been a success overall despite not being a huge fan of the logo. I love what the club has done with it and I just wish we could have gone to 11 home games to get the full experience.

No news that I've heard regarding the future plans of the club, other than my own 'hunch' that it was always intended as a rebrand, not a once year only logo change.

Considering the spend they put into things like signage and merchandise, there is no way they'll revert to the old logo.

If by chance we happen to win the premiership this year, they won't even change the typeface for a decade.

So is this logo here to stay now? I thought it was just the 150 year logo. I sure hope it stays.
Whatever press release that info came out on added needless confusion. The 150th year bit was just the text under the logo that said 150 years or whatever. The actually main logo is permanent.

Me too but I get why they did it.
I kind of do too. In the same situation I would have considered doing it too. And if it was a stand alone event it probably wouldn't bother me that much.

But add it to the co-captains deafness, the changing of the mission statement and the nagging feeling I have that they are selling us out on the PBS and it paints a picture of a club that is treating it's members like mushrooms.

It also grates because it reminds me we don't have a vote to do anything about it.

When the club announced it I felt the logo looked a bit fan-made and didn’t fit with the logos of the other clubs, this wasn’t something I thought when Melbourne changed their logo (which looked great) nor when North Melbourne changed theirs (which looked shit). However a year later I think it looks great, certainly an upgrade on the previous and it really represents the club well, they managed to fit the bars as well as the PA monogram and just a little bit of teal that isn’t too much in a way that isn’t too busy. A massive upgrade I feel.

Just a bit more ingenuity and creativeness is needed in this new logo but overall it is more black and white, it isn't a gimmick, down to earth, and more fitting for a long standing traditional club like Port Adelaide. The Power logo was smart and professional, had a hidden Port story in it that most never knew but it was a logo that was trying to forge a new identity that in hindsight wasn't fitting for our club.

The 150th year change was always a Trojan horse.

I quite like the change and the one logo for both.

The fact that they weren't honest about it up front really pisses me off.

Covid helped. The club knew it became a 45th order issue with fans.

Don't take this the wrong way, but there's a lot more to do on this project* so I wan't be doing any requests from posters. Time is short as it is. I do want to hear thoughts and feedback though.

I have some thoughts on the desire to 'replicate the guernsey' vs the need to design a strong and usable symbol for the long term. Essentially, I think the latter trumps the former and that the better symbols are the simplest ones.

*For the record, I'm working up complete visual identity guidelines for the club that will include merch, mascot, member promotions, etc. This will all be entwined with the BBTB campaign for the offseason and throughout next year. The snippets above are some mid-stage development mockups. (Edit: I should note that this it self initiated, not an official engagement with the club)

I wonder if the club are really fixed on having six white stripes in the logo and is it important to our brand that it is six? Do you think the six stripes is somehow what makes our logo difficult to re-size? The club likely identified with six stripes because the PB jumper design we've worn for most of our successful eras has contained six stripes. Though, does having three stripes appear quite Collingwoodish? Could it work with four where the centralised part of the logo still contains that middle black stripe as per our jumper? Just thoughts.
