GWS have done a fantastic job. Just need to read the room and made the "Never Surrender" their home jumper.
I just hope they design a proper appealing guernsey, unlike those awful Gold Coast and GWS uniforms and logos.

well people are passionate, you’ve got two camps, one who are die hard traditionalists who want to protect the strip at all costs for fear of it being lost and the other that want to put aboriginal art, pride and Ukraine flags all over it to try appease every little minority. I think we’ve found a happy medium at the moment that appeals for everyone. At the end of the day I think something that we can all agree on is we love the footy for an escape, it’s good just to throw on a game and zone out with out having something signalled in your face or reminding you what’s wrong with the world. But anyway let’s get back to the kits hey, Sir Izak is back in the new O’Neills training guernsey, new era cap and changed to 23. Book the tickets

Lions FB. Kit basically the same on the front, only notable change is BBFFC above the jocktag.

Why do Brisbane have Fitzroy's pennants hanging up but not acknowledge them as official flags when the clubs history is stated a la Sydney do with South Melbourne's? Yes, I know they are a merged entity but at least show in official records this: BL Premierships:11 Brisbane: 2001/02/03 Fitzroy: 1898/99, 1904/05, 1913, 1916, 1922, 1944. Merged should mean combined. I often feel Fitzroy's history/legacy is erased or forgotten.

They acknowledge Fitzroy more than the acknowledge the Bears most days so this surprises me.

Also they're technically not a merged club (RoyLion will be to explain this better) but the Bears basically changed their name and took on a few players, officials and maybe a board member or two.

Fitzroy actually came out of Administration and have been playing in the VAFA for a long time now, so they technically still exist in their own right.

The BBFFC text was above the jocktag in 2023.
In 2022 it was below it.

This is a first in a very long time.
No change to a club's uniforms at all.
Yeah you're right, they left it off all the non-PI gear (including my gold clash), and kit announcement photos from last year, and all the player portraits, so I assumed it wasn't there for some reason. So weird!

You should watch the Merge on the Lions YouTube, will give you a bit more of understanding, even if the Bears essentially bought a brand. The club acknowledges it I guess because it's the right thing to do.

Our away kit is the newer Roy colours. Our lockers have old Roy players on them, we had a chunk of Roy players join us after 95, we have Bulldog still loving the club etc. BBFFC is also the full name of the club as stipulated even back then.

The weird not so fun fact is that the Brisbane move actually kept the Lions moniker alive - if the North deal had happened they would have lost the Lion to history (in the AFL) :(

Fitzroy can now operate in lower leagues because of an agreement with the Lions including usage of the monogram.

I've seen it 😀

I know the history but it wasn't really a merger per se more like Fitzroy having a gun held against their head.

This is an appropriate analogy lol

To be fair we kinda got screwed by Skase and going Ned Kelly was probably one of our beat options for brand expansion and survival. One can only imagine what we'd be if we had won 3 flags as the Bears instead of Lions

Fitzroy 113 years of existence prior to merger. Bears 10 years. Yes, both should be acknowledged but Fitzroy's history far outstrips the Bears so makes sense they would be acknowledged greater.

They acknowledge them, i don't know if saying that one has more worth and therefore deserves more acknowledgement that the other is makes sense, as both had history and supporters. Regardless of your thoughts on the Bears, if they didn't exist then the sport in QLD probably wouldn't be where it is today.

Would 'Brisbane-Fitzroy FC' have been an idea? Plenty of country clubs share names and not only do you get used to it, it ends up rolling off the tongue nicely.

I feel like most of the time people only say the name of the town the oval itself is in though.
