What’s AFL’s problem with Nike?
The problem is with Nike and the ability to heat press the Gold Premiers logo.
And that all the 2024 jumpers, which are already made will need it.
Home, Away, Clash, Anzac, Indig Black, Indig White and any others that they are wearing.
They are already made because their jumpers are made overseas and Nike is expecting shipping problems in 2024.

This sounds like a Collingwood problem not swans though

Perhaps to make the best out of a bad situation they could heat press on the gold logo like the previous GF patches which had a bit of a metallic background? The recent versions tend to look more bronze

How do they pre make jumpers for players not yet drafted or traded? Im picturing draftees getting numbers based on the range of sizes ordered, and somehow a 200cm beanpole ending up in the #46 size XS

Was reading BomberBlitz and someone said that Ess moving to NB.
Theres still one year left of the UA contract, so that could be for 2025. Like Brisbane had deal with them done when there was still season left of Classic.

Belgravia heading towards sponsoring half the league... hopefully for them its third time lucky because didn't end well for BLK and ISC.

I may be able to find some info about Essendon and UA. Will keep my ear to the ground.

what actually happened to castore btw? wasn't it rumoured that the jumpers were in a shipping container that fell in the ocean?

FJGD deep sea adventure to find the WC castore guernseys?
Word on the street is Freight Train swims in the found guernseys like Scrooge mcduck

Apparently
So out there somewhere there's a shipping container full of new, never opened or worn match jumpers.

I'm all good guys, made it back safely - some Sonar imaging of the Indian Ocean floor has been released since the dive..

I am no expert, but that looks more like an Atlantic Ocean floor. Indian Ocean ones generally have aircraft on them.

Your expidition may not have found the right items.

It could be the shipment of piss guernseys that the Brisbane Lions scuttled on purpose? We literally did it in the Atlantic so we could blame it on the French

FFS I am absolutely over Nike. First they underestimate how much product is required for a club like Collingwood to the point where you haven’t been able to buy a guernsey since what, May of this year? It was embarrassing seeing proper retail Brisbane guernseys being sold next to shitty Sekem Pies replicas in GF week.

Then we have the ridiculous situation where (either due to stock or licensing, I’m guessing the former) all the team signed premiership guernseys, going for $2500 a pop, arent even actual Nike guernseys. They are literal polyester sheets cut out in the shape of a guernsey (watch the videos from signing day) with a Premiership Cup silhouette where the Nike logo would be. This phantom manufacturer also went to the trouble of basically replicating the Nike jock tag without the Nike logo, so it just seems very off-brand to me and not worthy of the asking price.

Finally we have this ridiculous situation where we will be rolling around with heat-pressed gold AFL logos in 2024 because Nike needs to have their stock made up literally six months before the start of the season. I was thinking of buying my first retail in probably five years just to get that nice gold logo; not anymore. What a shitshow. I would rather us be with Belgravia.

It would be nice if Nike made stuff here like Belgravia do. Do any of the other kit makers (i.e. Puma, ISC) have domestic manufacturing?

ISC I’m fairly sure don’t make in Australia, at least their AFL gear I don’t think was (someone correct me if I’m wrong). I’ve got a feeling that ASICS do, again please someone correct me if I’m wrong there!

I feel like the Hawkies gear is domestic, so not sure if ISC have changed their location since their last AFL stint

Yeah isc is domestic league, or atleast local. I remember Fiji being mentioned previously.

At the end of the day they should be able to create enough stock at a decent rate or have someone able to do it like nb does.
The nz super rugby teams have moved to classic because they are able to have a shorter turn around and have more special jerseys in place at quick notice.
Nike branding is nice, but if they can't do it justice or enough it really isn't worth it.
