this was an "overhaul" and there have been a few in recent times, but theyre all still playing it safe, nothing actually drastic.

the only true overhaul was the buccaneers in the late 90s....whole new color scheme, design, helmet, and logo.

They tried to play it safe but they've farked it.

Take away the shoulder stripes and you have this

Agree with GG about the helmet looking silly, it needed something else to break it up too, like a stripe down the middle (contrail stripe?)
And it's no better than the 80s era helmet

It would have done them better to work on that one, something like this one maybe

As for the uniform I heard somebody compare it to a pre-set custom uniform creation in Madden, which is a fair call.

These things always suck

Can you see why the world is all nothing but heckin'g bullshit?

They spend an hour here with ritzy music and dancing, suits on stage talking about how the new design was inspired by a bunch of adjectives that describe the city. They roll some video of hard hits which are outlawed anyway. A whole bunch of smoke and mirrors. And pretend the design process took a whole year of hard work. When all that happened was over the course of a couple of days, a bunch of suits went thru a computer program of Nike's preset uniform templates, mixing and matching elements for the socks, pants, jersey, fonts. It's so clearly done this way, given they're using Chargers shoulder stripe and Cleveland's/NCAA's team name on chest and pointy pants stripe.

Much ado about nothing, especially when the new uniform and logo is horrendous anyway. No imagination.

In future, next time an NFL team wants to do a uniform change, they should just either solicit fan ideas and publicly pick one. Or, just work with the fans right thru the process, polls on twitter with various uniform designs and retweaks thru more polls as the process goes on. No cloak of secrecy and canned bullshit.

How the hell did the Jets end up with that stupid new logo. Redundant. The logo is shaped as a football, and then they put another ball under the word Jets. Who the hell doesn't see that redundancy when creating the logo? I've seen a ton of fan logos, with a stylish sleek graphic of a jet-like swoop or a jet itself. That helmet decal is significantly worse than the 80's version -- designers understood back then, have they all lost the ability to understand 40 years later? How many times now have we seen fans react poorly to these corporately chosen new uniforms and the teams itself admitting so, and them having to go under more jersey changes to redress the bad graphic elements?
