btw those songs Thom Yorke did with Burial and Four Tet are fantastic. I actually like them more than most of the songs on The King of Limbs.

And yeah, OK Computer is essential.

Got the phone call from the record store today. King of Limbs is in and I'll pick it up tomorrow morning and have a listen.

Can't wait to find out what all the hullabaloo is about.....

OKC is pretty dated though :(

An OK Computer Upgrade = In Rainbows :)

You can tell how dated things are when bands such as Elbow are copying the Radiohead sound and feel :p

Not sure how you can say that; there a definite influence but (whilst i love Elbow) they are certainly much more conventional, and really not much alike.

Just keep your expectations low...

Some of the best songwriters in the business.

Don't confuse me here though; i don't think they've written absolutely massive tracks like some bands have; their quality is in all their songs being very well thought out and every aspect of it is made to work together.

Collectively, they remind me of a supergroup or a group of producers in that regard; at the very top of the compositional field in each of their instruments, i can appreciate that as a songwriter. But it might just be that i can appreciate it more as a songwriter... Either way i think they write some stunning music.

The National write pretty damn fine songs as well ... however its hard to shift the disposition of people who tend to like music by a certain artist...

I don't expect anyone else to like them; i just think comparing them to Radiohead is idiotic because they're nothing like them. Majority of "Sounds like Radiohead" calls are off the mark completely though, dont think anything can sound like them.

It's so far in front of the Bends it's not funny. If you didn't like OK Computer, I'm guessing you don't like Radiohead.
Luv Radiohead but I only rate it behind In Rainbows and HTTT

Way too overstated, by way to many sheep, in my view.

That's a pretty ignorant view, in my view.

Yet you stated the following

If you didn't like OK Computer, I'm guessing you don't like Radiohead."
And what in particular did you find blasphemous (ignorant ) about my post. Is it the fact that I dared question the the view, that ok computer, is infact not so seminal, and that not all radiohead fans worship and uphold this album as there most important, or prefered body of work ...or that there were to many not able to think independently for themselves?

The part where you implied I was a sheep. I didn't even say OK Computer was my favourite Radiohead album. As Caesar said, it is their most seminal work, and I don't know how you can like Radiohead, and hate OK Computer.

The fact that people rate other albums higher is fine, but irrelevant to my earlier statement.

It's also incredibly arrogant for you to think those who don't rate their albums the same way you do, are too stupid to form their own opinions.

OK Computer is definitely the seminal Radiohead album in that it influenced the music they have produced since, it's the album that redefined them as a band. Whether you consider it their best album is a matter of personal opinion, in my opinion it is.

Ridiculous to say that people that think OKC is their best album are just sheep following the crowd. It's recognised as a great album now but at the time it was released it wasn't an instant success, most people were expecting The Bends Part 2 and weren't that impressed with it initially, myself included. It took a while to realise what a great album it was and the majority of people that rate it as their best album did so of their own accord rather than because everyone else was telling them it was great.

Firstly, nowhere did state I that hated OKC, infact I rated it as my third favourite album Its just not at the top of the tree.

What I took exception to was your view, that those who didnt like it were more then likey 'not Radiohead fans' That I thought was ...to use your words and ignorant point of view to hold and indicitive of some fans, who place this work above all others...thus, how dare we not like it, or question it

And based on that, I presumed your views to be fixed and dismissive of others who may not place it in such high regard .

You're confused, because the discussion did not involve you. Lach said he hated OK Computer. I think OK Computer is fairly indicative of Radiohead's body of work, in the middle between their more conventional rock, and the electronic side of the spectrum. I asked Lach which abums he rates, as I don't know if he is a Radiohead fan or not. I do not place it above all others, Kid A would be my favourite album if you pressed me to choose one.

I hope this helps explain things for you.

Fair pioints ..

I went back and re-read it, but more importantly, the context of that quote and it would seem that I read it in isolation, without understanding the context in which it was said .

I retract my previous comments about you bieng ignorant, as that may lay square at my feet.
