Lets take the talk about this here, away from the draft thread.

So far these people have said they are interested so will get the first pickof teams (before anyone else):

And my thoughts of a format would be something like this(its pretty rough atm):

For the first year:
-Everyone takes a teams list(maybe after trade week this year but before the national draft). You take full control over the club. You can change the location, name, logo or whatever of the club.

-Then I reckon we have a trading period(pretty much just like a team trading game here) before player payments or salary caps come into it.

-After the trading period, you submit your lists and de-listed players and you give all you players a certain salary and contract that has to come under the salary cap. So for example: Barry Hall- $250,000 (2 years).

-Then we would have a national draft with all the under 18 players and a pre-season draft will all the delisted players.

Season:
Teams would play each other in a fixture. It would be based on supercoach scores. (I would need someone to take the job of adding these up). Each week you would just have to name your best 22. Then we would have finals and a premiership team.

We would also possibly have a mid season trade period that just goes for a week. Only players could be traded here, not picks.

For future years off season:
Out of conract players-
-All players who become out of contract can be bidded on by other clubs. You would have to nominate a price, number of years and a pick(round) in the pre season draft that you would take him with.
-If the club he came from wanted to keep him then he would have to match that offer.

Trade period-
-Any player and picks could be traded. The 2 clubs involved with a Contracted players that is traded will have to work out between them how much each club pays of his salary.
-Out of cantract players can also be traded, but the club he goes to must pay him more than the highest current bid for him.

Then ther would be the national and pre-season draft again.


And also i want everyones input on the format of this. This is by no means set in concrete, i have just quickly typed up a rough idea. I want everyones sugestions, questions, thoughts etc.

But seriously, this could work id think.
We could start up a Dream team league, just so the scores and ladder is worked out for us???? Just have all 16 of us involved?

Also, need penalties for teams which are cheating the cap? (if anyone would that is)
The question is...what do we do over summer to keep interest?
 
i think salarys should be done before the trading period, so we dont got 2 mill over the cap or something. also trading should go forever, not just one week, we need to trade during the season

supercoach is heaps better lol. actually has skill involved;)

the problem with starting up a dt/sc league is that some people might be over the salary cap on the site so it might not work.

teams wouldnt be aloud to cheat the cap. they would need to keep an updated list with all player payments there and total payments.

my thoughts behind that was that trading would be more free without the salaries at the start. this would mean that more trades would get done, and just because someones afl team does poorly in the season, doesnt mean you would go poorly in this comp because you would have different players.
and you wouldnt be 2 mil over cos u would set ur own payments when trading is done.

trading all the time is an option cos u do need to trade during the season, but its not really how most of these run, and i reckon its better having lots of action in the offseason. if we traded all the time then nothing would happen in the off season. as i said, we would prbs have 1 week of trading in the mid season. we could add a few mroe weeks maybe if ppl want.
 
i wanna start this site now, so do u reckon we just call it afl team manager?? or somethign football league (like total fl has but diffrent)?

or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks for putting me in Bryceson but I've fallen into a heap of work and I just won't be able to commit myself enough to this game so I think it would be better if you substitute me with someone else. Thanks anyway. :thumbsu:

wot team do u want? only pies, bombers, cats and saints have been taken.

the rules havent been finalised. i still want more input from the coaches. ill type out a good, indepth draft of the rules sometime on the long weekend, and post it on the site and get everyones suggestions.
