I think they're okay, good as a training jumper but a little plain for an official guernsey.

I'm gonna bump this thread every day just for Bigkevbleedspurple because I know he can't get enough jumper debate. ;)

I wonder if they've opted for red and green training jumpers because they've scrapped it from the home jumper...

Loving Sandilands defensive work in that picture.

I really like those jumpers. It's a nice tie to the hertiage jumper and does honour the 19th Century origins of the club.
I like the anchor design.. but the heritage is at least unique and 'Fremantle', if they ever wanted to use the design as a third strip...

Football version of basketball's 'Switch' when you have the oppositions best offensive player.

LOL. I was generally pretty choosey about when/where/how I'd switch on screens. Particularly off-ball screens.

'No, no, you better get out to that shooter...'

Its an interesting move guys.

Often training jumpers are there for trial, just to see how they look - some even make it onto the big stage (St Kilda's "hot cross bun", Port adelaide's big lightning bolt).

I'm not sure whether a drastic change like Ports jumper this year is wanted, but there is that precedent (and a very successful one at that).

How would you feel about something like this? Sort of inspired by the way France's soccer team has their flag colours in (blue, red) in between the three white stripes of adidas.

I like the purple trainnng jumpers, and the one above isnt too shabby either. I do like our white jumper thou.
If we went for the above everyone would be all on about our feng shway and how we should win games now that we arent being weighed down by our anchour....

smeagle that jumper looks awesome!!!
but i have a feeling if we went along the heritage way of thinking it would be primarily purple with just the 3 white lines.
exciting times in freo with another batch of kids to be added in 48 hours!!

Nice attempt Smeagle but I reckon the anchor must stay, at all costs. It's the essence of Freo, and very distinctive.

Yeah i like the anchor too.
Plus Port Adelaide have changed to their quite similar Back In Black design- much prefer to keep ours unique

Love Smeagle's kit. Not a fan of our away jumpers atm. Liked them at first, but after a while the novelty wears off.

Several teams are starting to go down the predominantly white away strip. One of the things i originally liked about our away strip was that it was so different from anything else, and really stood out. Now its starting to look pretty same same.

Just on a random psychological note, theres been research into teams who play with light/dark colours as their jumpers, with the darker colours being more successful. Apparantly it has something to do with it sits more subconsciously appearing more intimidating. I think there was also something like that in boxing at the Olympics. Boxers who wore red had noticeably more wins than blue, even while allowing for chance. Now im not advocating changing our jumper for this reason, its more just something to chew on.

Id prefer Smeagles jumper as our away strip, over our current one. Reversing the Purple/White on it would also be an upgrade imo.

JungleMuffin, I appreciate the rationale in relation to the All Blacks but how does that explain Real Madrid? Or Leeds United in the 1960/70's? (the most feared and ruthless team of the era) Or Ajax? Or the fact that AC Milan have won most of their European Cup finals wearing their white change strip? Or the overall success of Germany in the World Cup?

I seem to remember that red was the most successful guernsey colour which would tend to explain the boxing evidence but the white guernsey we wear is a) brilliantly designed and b) the best clash guernsey in the competition. It should remain unchanged. Build some history in it.
