Bashir has the third most test wickets in 2024 but his average is dreadful. I don't get his continued selection.
He needs to go and play first class and work on his bowling. Being tall and having long fingers is not a point of difference for a finger spinner these days and does not make you a better bowler or give you X factor. Look at sulieman benn.

I’m not sure that’s how it works anymore…no depth in FC red ball games means some regimes/selectors are keen to identify talent and just stick them ie Bethell and Bashir.

looks a little bowler heavy too me
Me too. Ward pleased to see but no Henry Hunt who has three tons and sits top of table. Or does CA now have him as next in line to open. Edwards (c) and a top order bat, get off the grass. Dislike too that top three bats are all lefties.

looks a little bowler heavy too me, although there doesn't seem to be too many out and out batsmen these days.

most bats seem to either bowl a bit or keep.
I agree. Would of been nice to see one of Davies, Kellaway or even Sangha in there

Kellaway or even Sangha
Yeh, not Davies. White ball yes.

There are some of our best next genners on show in this England Lions tour, yet I see little being written about the current CAX1 game, which has the local side well in the frame for a victory today. Brissie looks fine, in fact it will be a scorching 37, may just fry the Pom attack.
