Looking at the photo in the article, it doesnt actually look that bad. it was late and high but he gets him more with his bicep. dont think it was worth 4 weeks, you see that stuff happen a fair bit through out the season

Well I'm only guessing but he already had 1 week from a yellow. Then the league would have offered him a sentence say 2 weeks (3 all up) and he took it to the tribunal where he lost resulting in another week( 4 all together). So really he probably only got 2 for the hit which is pretty lucky in itself.

As for not looking that bad? I dunno what photo you are looking at but it's clearly high and he knocked the kid out. It was also very very late from the video.

This - laughable. A still PHOTO - spare me.
Watch the video on the NFL website.
Facts - high, late, player unconcious before he hits the ground, heavily concussed, takes no further part in the game, assessed in hospital post match, will miss this week as well.
Umpire should be grilled as to why it wasn't a straight red.

This is far more sense than the previous post. Well stated. In the end, the correct outcome was achieved so the League has done well here regardless of who we all support. .....looking forward,
Mont would have to be the stand out favourite to win it this year for sure. bergs can't beat them, Bulls still struggling, Boro won't match Monts fire power etc........Yep. Looks like a Monty premiership all the way

mont a stand out favourite - you are a penis

If one didn't know better one could easily be thinking that Big Ronnie had planned this round but then again .......
Round 18.
Northcote Park vs Lower Plenty. Both have plenty to play for with teh Cougars wanting to give coach Heatley a big send-off and the Bears hoping to get back into the finals action. Could be real tight but just favouring the home side.
Macleod vs Heidelberg. Both teams can't afford a loss for different reasons, and at the risk of being cut out again of Boof's will I'm giving the Tigers the nod over the Kangas in what should be a cracker of a game
Eltham vs Bundoora. The Panther park hasn't been a happy hunting ground for the Bulls in recent seasons and they'll need to break that scenario to give themselves a chance of being part of the finals action while depending on other results to go their way.
Montmorency vs West Preston. The Maggies have hit a purple patch of form at the right time of the season and with a double chance on offer shouldn't trip up against what will be an equally desperate Roosters outfit.
Greensborough vs Whittlesea. The only game without any bearing on teh finals makeup should see he Burra comfortably account for the Eagles as they fly off back to Division 2.

Great game at De Winton. Heidelberg went to another gear in the 3rd and were more composed going forward. I'm sure both teams were happy with the hit out on the eve of finals. Should be a cracking series and expecting a few upsets.

Good luck to all involved

Let the real season begin. Saturday the ultimate test for Greensy so far without their main man. Mac/bundy an intriguing battle; macs finals inexperience vs bundys experience

Let the show begin.

First of all well done to all that have qualified. It was an interesting season and as one that has seen every team play at one time or another I reckon no one will be able to put their house on a win.

This week, to generate some other thoughts and to go make early selections:

Greensborough v Montmorency - Two massive rivals. I have heard about the huge committee-coach-player meeting a few weeks back. This has obviously worked as Mont have a changed game plan that seems to be working. We all know the Slime have a huge out but one player does not make a side. Hopefully a perfect day with no breeze will see a classic NFL final. Mont will love the bigger ground to give the two big blokes some space. Hard one, going for what the ladder will say is an upset and Mont to get over the line and start to correct wrongs from previous seasons.

Bundoora v Macleod - Hopefully Macleod did not celebrate making the finals too much as the test starts now. Super impressive season with only some minor slip ups, but they have ticked off some things this season that they have never been able to do. We all know Preston is a different ground to any other will that be an issue? The Bulls are the been there done that team. Forget all the rumours of disruption through the season, I am sure they will be on and together come Sun at 2pm. However, going out on a limb and call say Macleod can win this by less than a gaol.

In the other grades (they all deserve a mention this time of year as the life blood of most clubs)

Greensborough v Heidelberg - Both sides have seniors playing. 1-all during the season. Stick with the ladder, Slime to win.

Macleod v Northcote Park - The Cougars can strengthen up with qualled players but 2-0 during the season should be 3-0 to the Kangas.

West Preston Lakeside v Montmorency - 1 all so I will go on last weeks game and dominate ladder position. Chooks to win.

Bundoora v Northcote Park - Another 1 all during the season. Give this to the Bulls.

Nothing will surprise me with these games. Again good luck to all. Hope the weather is kind.

Denny has finally come out of hibernation. Not being able to read his dribble during the season, I was starting to get withdrawal symtoms. The season is nearly over, however I am looking forward to his gibberish on next weeks games.

Weather prediction for Sat and Sun. Sunny light winds. 3pm Sat NNE 7km - 3pm Sun NNW 15km. That 4 to 6 goal wind we're accustom to will be blowing Sunday. With this in mind and the dry conditions, Mont and Bulls for me.
