He is undoubtedly the best bloke on our list. His selfless acts do not just occur on the field.

RUDE: Cam Mooney, Kane Tenace, Brent Prismall

NICE: Matthew Egan (Nicest guy I've Met) Dasher, Michael Mansfield was very nice, Garry Hocking.

Awww.. Mickey Mansfield! I can't believe I forgot about him. (Was so in love with him once upon a time).

Btw. Why am i seeing this thread is 4 pages long, yet it only comes up as 3??

Hahaha Global Ignore:D

Cam Mooney was rude to me as well when I went to get his autograph.

I made a complete fool out of myself just before, over MSN, to Shannon Byrnes.
He's alright, but he blocked me when he found out I went for Geelong (probably assumed I'm an obsessed fan which is fair enough).
A friend of mine had a long convo with him and he was really nice to her, because they have the same b'day he called them twins. Haha.
If THAT was your terrible crime, my little bunny-boiler, then you've hardly made a fool of yourself. Byrnesy's being a tad precious. Maybe he copped a few beltings from Mansfield? :D

(He probably meant to block someone else, but missed ;))

I'd nominate Fred Flanagan for top bloke status. He's not really down with Myspace or IMing, but he recently went out of his way to assist me after I'd landed myself in a spot of trouble.

This is the conversation I had with him...
Shannon: do i know you?
Me: nah...
Shannon: oh
Shannon: so i haven't met you before
Shannon: so you a geelong fan?
Me: you've never met me & yes i go for geelong.
Then he blocked me.

Maybe I didn't make a fool out of myself, I was like "OUCH" when he blocked me hahaha. Then my friend asked him what else does he like to do other than not barracking for his own team and Shannon just said 'haha.'

Whoa. Thread is screwed.

I know this isn't Geelongy much, but I once ate at the same restaurant as Rex Hunt.
I couldn't go up to him, I was really shy at the time. So my Grandpa (I was on a trip somehwere with him and my Nana) went and talked to him. I think he signed an autograph for my Dad. I can't really remember though.

Played cricket against Ablett Senior. He was a top bloke, also made 180!

The sad part about that innings was, Gaz was hitting them to all parts of the boundary. Anyways, this bloke comes on and bowls a pie which bounces twice. Ablett, in his attempt to hit it out of the ground, hit straight over the second bounce, and was bowled.

Instead of being clapped off the ground like anyone who scores 180 should be, Gary Ablett had to walk off the ground while everyone was in tears laughing at the ridiculous situation.

I played indoor cricket against Peter Riccardi once. Ran him out too. :D Only because his partner set off on a suicide single and he was stranded in the crease at the non-strikers end so I ran in and whipped off the bails. :D Makes for a good story though. :thumbsu:

Newman genuinely is a rude prick who cares about no one but himself (my partner deals with him regularly).

My brother played cricket against Billy Brownless. He was telling me just the other day that Bill was a pretty good bloke. Also pretty bright, which didn't surprise me much really.

Sure it is. :thumbsu:

Rexy played two seasons for Geelong. Finished second in our B&F in '74 (and fourth in the Brownlow), then was named as vice for '75. Third most infamous wearer of the No 6 after David Spriggs and Dwayne Russell, and he's never heard of an O-ring. He bleeds yellow and black, but he can never shave off those whiskers.

Working in a restaurant means i see alot of footy players, but never from geelong unfortunately because its in s.e.melboure.

Big wraps to all players never has one ever refused an autograph or a chat, but the best of all time was actually jeff fenech the boxer, fantastic bloke who offered to shout me at the top of the town in the city ! fully limo chauffered! and yes he was serious lol

Was it any good? ;)

By far the nicest GFC player i've come across is Gary Jnr,

He must get bothered by people everywhere he goes, but is always smiling, gives everyone the time of day, and makes each individual person he speaks to feel special.

Even on the ground you always see him high five the kid mascot which I'm sure is a memory that child will have for the rest of their life!

I guess it just depends what situations you catch the guys in, 'cos some of us have some pretty conflicting opinions! here's the ones i can remember:

Ben Graham - BRILLIANT, i was in the paper with him when i was little
Ablett SNR - fantastic, met him after a game that i played little league in and he was good when was bragging 'bout my 8 goals ahha
gaz junior - super nice
NAblett - came to a supporter day even tho it was at the stage where he didnt sign autographs or take photos, which would of been hell annoying refusing people all day but atleast he came
Bomber - was signing autographs and decided to strike up a conversation with my little bro which he didnt really have to do so that was lovely
Micky mansfiled - rude!
Stoneham - signed stuff for me when he was on crutches and asked me to hold his beer (i was like 10) haha
and most of the other boys has just been for a quick autograph which you can't take much away from but i've never really come away thinking what a bastard or anything!
its like being served at coles or something they can be nice one minute and over it the next!

I've played indoor cricket against him as well. He occasionally had Milburn And Corey on his team.

Scarlett is an absolute arrogant pr!ck that I wouldnt give the time of day to.
I dont know what he thinks of himself but the way he carries himself around town is like, dont talk to me, Im hard & tough and play footy for Geelong..........tosser.

Cam Ling & Tom Harley are probably the "nicest" 2 guys I have come across from the current team.

Scarlo can do whatever the hell he wants, cause he's Scarlo.

I just have one question, have you ever actually met him? If not, there's no point casting dispersions on people without having contact with them.

Never ASSUME because it makes an (ASS) out of (U) and (ME)...

not a bad word to say about any of them!
overall theyre a great group of guys.
henry prob least friendly after a game/at official functions but when out with some of the boys and friends (after a few drinks haha) he's a different person.
ottens always has time for ppl and all the gfs are lovely too
