171cm Caleb Daniel is so short he is probably not even legally a whole person, and he has taken 13 contested grabs.

How ******* embarrassing.
Kosi Pickett is only 171cm and has taken more than Daniel - 15 to 13.

Btw, Daniel came into the system at 168cm. Glad to see he's stolen an inch.

Wow, that's some reach, even for you

But, you just misspelt his surname, is that disrespectful?

What about other names being thrown around in here, like squib?

If you want to start targeting individual posters, best you make a stronger case than that poor post
Meh, the kids a Premiership player, All Australian and Rising Star.

Not a bad first 2 years bud.

Nick Daicos is in the conversation for best first two years of any career.

However, it has to be said that he has been given a big leg up to start his career. He has for the most part been playing a very easy role.

Any of the players in the GOAT conversation have a lot more strings to their bow then Nick currently has. This is not to say he can’t add to his game, but he is not particularly strong in winning contested footy, bursting out of stoppages or marking overhead.

Ablett Jnr is my GOAT and he was dominant at winning contested ball and bursting out of stoppages, while being just as skilful and adept at finding the footy as Daicos is.

Worth noting that just because a person doesn’t put Nick in the GOAT conversation doesn’t mean they don’t think he is an elite player.

I assume you're talking since the AFL era began, because if we include pre-1990 (VFL) he wouldn't be near any conversation.

Yes, I kind of think in general it’s a bit pointless comparing the AFL era with the VFL era.

Not saying one set of players is better than the other but they’re from two completely different contexts.

He is a very good player, will go down as a modern day great but the best of all time? I dont think he will be the best of his own era. Has to contend with the Bont and a plethora of other young stars.
He’s a long way off Modern Day Great, let alone in the same universe as GOAT potential. He has half of what a GOAT has - the other half is toughness, selflessness, the ability to lead and inspire through his own acts.

Racking up 30 each week from half back or on the outside of stoppage doesn’t come close to “ a great”.

A nice little flanker is Nick.

Some simpletons are extrapolating 50 games (30 good ones, one Fadgelow medal) to a 300 game GOAT career, so extrapolating 50 games with no contested marks to 100 shouldn’t be that big a stretch.
With modern sports science he may play 500 games so it would've been better if he said "he hasn't taken a single contested mark after 500 games!". If you're going to be wrong you might as well make it really wrong.

This thread really died in the ass when mods said we couldn't add an 'i' to the end of his name.

With that said, I'm keen to see how the reigning Fadgelow Medallist goes today, would be a bit embarrassing if he's shirking contests against the smaller and lighter framed Zac Butters who's never been known to take a backwards step.

I think it died in the ass when the fanbois realised Nick was more goating than GOATing to open the season. Certain it will bounce back after a few high possession zero contested mark games. Also, Dad has been in the jungle so ch7 have not been able to flash to him in the stands 20+ times per game and ejaculate, which has not helped with the media hype. Anyway, Dad is back, so expect that change very quickly too.

That's correct, he's been quiet so far compared to those first two years, hopefully he explodes after the bye and the thread becomes popular again

Any chance nuffie fans will wake up to themselves and realize that running around picking up cheapies off half back and occasionally doing something nice with it simply isn't that important to winning footy?

I almost feel bad for the kid. He's been hyped up beyond belief by Pies fans and the media and is now being exposed as a soft flanker who doesn't defend or win the hard ball.
