RICKY Nixon’s pioneering career as an AFL player agent appears over, after the AFLPA stripped him of his accreditation for at least two years.

Following the investigation by top lawyer David Galbally QC, the AFLPA’s Agent Accreditation Board met for the second time in a week today.
At the conclusion of the meeting today, chairman of the Agent Accreditation Board Ian Prendergast said his "inappropriate relationship" with the girl warranted an unprecedented action.

“Ricky has made serious errors of judgement which warranted a serious response," Ian Prendergast said.

Nixon had been given the chance to have his submissions heard by the committee via his lawyer Rod Lamplugh.

Prendergast said Nixon had been "disappointed" with the outcome, and had 14 days to lodge an appeal.

His players would be informed by letter this afternoon, and would be left to make a decision about their representation.

After an undistinguished playing career, Nixon established Flying Start in 1994, quickly becoming the agent to some of the AFL’s biggest ever names – and at the centre of the game’s biggest ever scandals.
Nixon pioneered the Club 10 “super stable” concept, which included Gary Ablett Sr, Wayne Carey, Jason Dunstall, Tony Lockett and Garry Lyon, and later Ben Cousins.

Awarded the Australia Day Sports Medal for services to sport by the prime minister, Nixon even attempted to teach others his secrets with online education course, into how to become a sports agent.

He crisis managed arguably the three biggest scandals in the game, with Ablett implicated in the death of a young fan, Carey sacked from North Melbourne after an affair with a teammates wife, and Cousins admitting to long term drug addiction.

But increasingly, Nixon was at the centre of his own scandals, charged in 2009 with drink driving charge after leaving the scene of an accident involving a Melbourne tram, and also being admitted to hospital with pneumonia.

The scandals surrounding St Kilda saw him in public conflict with the teenaged girl at the centre, while privately apparently starting the ill-advised relationship with her.

His admittance of “inappropriate dealings” with her sparked his downfall, with his flight overseas, subsequent return and entry into rehabilitation attracting mass interest and comment.

It is thought that many of Nixon’s remaining clients - which include St Kilda skipper Nick Riewoldt and Coleman medallist Jack Riewoldt – will look for new representation.

Former North Melbourne star turned pundit David King, who was managed by Nixon, said he thought it would be impossible for him to personally hold on to his clients.

“Impossible to continue as a player manager – the business can continue but not with Ricky in it,” King said.

“I think some of the players are waiting for the decision today, and then you will see them act.

“The players have given Ricky maximum opportunity to clear his name ... if that goes against Ricky I think it will be impossible for them to stay.”

Ah well.

Here's hoping that this is an end to the matter, at long last. On the same day as the start of the new season - hopefully we can talk about footy now.

Got what he deserved. 2 years will **** his business and he will have an inexistent reputation when he comes back meaning noone in their right mind will sign with him. Good on Mitch Brown for sacking him before the decision.

bahahahahaha :D

Nixon will appeal for sure.

Matter will be nowhere near over in the short term. Believe that he has 14 days to appeal.

Nixon will sue. The AFLPA have effectively denied him a livelihood for the next two years. He has nothing to lose in suing, except some money (presuming he has some), and everything to gain.

Story ain't over yet, IMO.

Cant imagine how knobs like you can take such enjoyment from the misfortune of others.

Excuse me? He blatantly broke the rules, acted like a pig, had relations in a not very savoury fashion with a girl who is only a couple of years older than his children and made the public have to put up with his rubbish for far too long. He gotr exactly what he deserved.

a fair and sensible decision in my view, Nixon should accept the decision gracefully and use the time suspended to rebuild his shattered family life. Remember he has not been charged or convicted of any crime

He should of had a wank.
How much have those couple of loads cost him.?

Should have been banned for life.

Pervert was still trying to get his **** in Duthie while in Rehab, after the scandal broke. Delusional.

Good luck Tricky, go snort some more coke.

Not yet, but aren't the police investigating, especially if there's video of himself with drugs

Cheating is one thing, sniffing coke out of the arse crack of a 17 year old **** who was know to be a trouble maker before slipping her the old one two is another thing.

Family will have walked. Not even Warnies wife would have taken him back from this.

Trick will have to rely on a bit of random strange for his thrills from now on cos no one is gonna want to touch him..
