We could have hired Scott Camporeale.

Seems to have completely stuffed the Crows midfield.
Completely dominant rucks, but their onballers (Scott Thompson aside) have gone backwards. Their structure is shite. Their centre square tactics are shite.

Aparently Scotty was going to be offered the job at Port, but we procrastinated, and the Crows swooped on him by offering more $$$
(without doing their homework on him mind you).

Cant help but think we dodged a bullet there.

No midfield coach seems a more viable alternative than a midfield coach with Camporeale's "credentials". Could have done more harm than good.

Peter Rhode?
Don't give me that Rohde shit thanks.

Campo expressed an interest in coaching at Alberton. We talked to him but weren't keen enough to hire him without exploring other options.

The Crows made an offer and yeah, bullet dodged.

I dont think its the coaches fault the crows midfield just isnt what it use to be. You take 2 players out of a lineup who have the experience and Star talent of Goodwin and Mcleod (and now tyson edwards) then any side will struggle to replace them with instant stars. I just hope my team Sydney continue to blood players for the future otherwise they will have a similar problem that adelaide has now replacing its midfield.

Wasnt he the bombers midfield coach last year?

Enough said.

Correct. Exacly my point about "credentials".

Actually my memory is kinda hazy on this part, but i seem to recall one of the Crows coaches unexpectedly quit before the start of the season (can't remember who) and they panicked and signed up Camporelea a few days later while Port were still looking. Seemed like a knee jerk response at the time. Even more so now....

Ask any Crows supporter or media sycophant (or Crows coach) at the start of the year and they would tell all and sundry that those players didnt play in the the middle for the Crows over the last few years anyway and that there was more enough talent and depth on the Crows list to cover them.

Craig came out not much more than a month ago and called this crows group the most exciting squad ever. The media here happily force feeds the public the propaganda that comes out of crows HQ and eventually someone somewhere has to pay the piper.

Anyone who even half follows football knew that once McLeod, Goodwin, Edwards even Burton and going back to Ricciuto were gone the guys who rode their coattails to an undeserved reputation would now have to stand or fall on their own. And a few have been found out. Even Scott Thompson who racks up mountains of possessions does no damage to the opposition.

Losing Bock was an unexpected blow and that's messed up the triangular structure of their defence with Rutten and Johncock having to fend for everyone. Those two are still playing good footy but teams sit on Johncock and mobile forwards drag Rutten away from the full back line leaving them exposed.

The trouble is failure is not an option for the crows. They just can't come out and publicly talk about rebuilding even if it is what they are doing now. They're caught in the football hell of trying to play kids while staying competitive and become a middle of the road team.

We've been through that and are now going the full rebuild. We're getting pilloried by media and 'supporters' but there may yet be method to Port's apparent madness. Fingers crossed.

Todd Viney jumped ship and took his son with him.

I remember listening to Camporeale interview on 5aa in the preseason, basically we'd been talking to him and indicated that we wanted him to be forwards coach, Crows phoned him and gave him a concrete offer of midfield (which he wanted), so he took Crows.
