Yes we won, yes it was a good win, but yes Hawthorn are absolute rubbish (I'm sure a few on here will rejoince in that fact:D)

We need to back it up - perform like we did against the Pies next week and it is still season over.

Are we men as Knights said - or will we continue to play like boys every second week?

Fair enough point, but unlike the Carlton match, we didn't just come out on top from a game of attrition. Tonight saw a lot of the fellas who have been under significant clouds hitting form (Welsh, NLM, Gumby, Davey, etc..) Definitely our next 4 weeks are tough, and we're still not on track for finals, but at least there is some momentum and confidence that they CAN play well together.

Baby steps - we're 2 and 4 - lose next week and we are still gone.

Hawthorn were rubbish. We need to back it up - and there lies the issue. Our form post a half decent win has been crap.

We are mentally week. until we perform week in week out I won't chnage my mind.

And yes we are only a few mids off being a top team, but mentally we have a long way to go (and we can make it).

Look I have to say this but in the first quarter we played very bad... the only difference is that Hawthorn were TERRIBLE. If they took half the oppotunities we gave them in the first quarter the score line would have looked very different. There were times in that quarter where we kicked the ball to a Hawthorn player twice and we still managed to score a goal.

The major difference between this week and last week was the passion. The players wanted it a hell of a lot more this week and it was good to see.

Lets not get carried away

By no means a negative post. However, I think we can all (myself included) be accused of getting carried away after the performance last week.
However, when things are bad they are never as bad as you think. When things are good, they are never as good as you think.

Lets try keep things in perspective, not just for this game, and our future wins, but for all games. Otherwise it gets crazy. We can't have people bashing coach and players, (Slatts, for example) every second week, and praising them in between.

Re: Lets not get carried away

Im as happy as anybody with the win. But im trying my very, very best not to think we are suddenly premiership favourites.

Re: Lets not get carried away

Enjoying a win to the max, has the all clear from me. :thumbsu:

Might not be many more results like tonights game, so it'd be wise to make the most of it!

Granted. Just enjoying a great win over a hated rival.:D Ending their season 2 years in a row, doesn't get too much better than that.

Absolutely. I think my OP was poorly worded. Enjoy it, absolutely. Hell, im buzzing.

But don't get TOO carried away with expectations and such.

Re: Lets not get carried away

I'm overjoyed at posting a big win over Whorethorn and I think it deserves to be celebrated, but I do agree. Both of our victories this year have been against teams that have played sub-par football in those matches. We're still not quite at a top 8 standard, I don't think.

Re: Lets not get carried away

Ahhh Hawks fans and free kicks lol. It's even funnier watching them games. EVERY tackle is 100% holding the ball and every free kick they give away is not there. Amusing.
They also seem to conveniently overlook the shocking decisions made against Essendon, like the rushed-behind incident that directly resulted in a free goal. At least with free kicks you still have to work for the goals.

BEST POST OF THE ENTIRE ****ING WEEK.

Stop posting green shit all over the board. It looks like a friggin Xmas tree.

Way too many supporters overreacting.

Re: Lets not get carried away

After a terrible ANZAC day, the club was under a bit of pressure to perform this week, against a team still crying over Lloydy...

Nothing better then beating the dawks, and rubbing their faces in it. :thumbsu:

True. Good point.
