Billy Frampton looking VERY iffy on McKay early....

Just saw Port don't have a first round pick for this year. Where did that go?

Apart from JHF they really haven't brought much talent in the last 3-4 years. They've got very little in their SANFL side to get excited about.

Didn't they spend those on Thatcher?

JHF sort of fell into their laps as well, I agree with King they were bloody lucky to get him.

I can't believe all the Port fans who think their list is amazing and Ken is the only problem they have.

They have a half dozen really good A+ players, and the rest fall off to being C+ battlers.

I've been saying this for the last two years, every Showdown we get a load of bed wetters on here pre-game about the 'MiDFiElD'....

We have them covered easily.

Darcy Cameron stinking it up.

This. It's from this morning. The mental gymnastics from Kane are stunning. Says their list is no good. All to defend his little mate Ken Hinkley. A side that was top 4 last year and recruited missing pieces over the off-season are now no good. After being beaten last night by a side that Kane said was the worst list he has ever seen at AFL level just what, 2 years ago.

Kanes an ambassador for Port so he is trying to balance it.

Ports problems can be explained this way.

2023 Draft - 4 picks below 48 in the national draft including 1 rookie
2022 draft - 4 picks below 36 in the nation draft including 1 rookie
2021 draft - 1 pick #12, 3 picks below 54 including 2 rookies
2020 draft - 1 pick #16, 3 picks below pick 49 including 2 rookies
2019 draft - 4 picks top 25, plus 4 rookies
2018 draft - 3 picks top 18, 4 picks below 73 including 2 rookies
2017 draft - 6 picks below 47 including 1 rookie

since 2017 they've added 9 players via the draft in the top 25, 1 has been traded out, another hasn't been playing.

This means a bulk of their squad have been lower draft dwellers, rookies, and trade ins and left over talent from when they used to go to the draft pre 2017.

They have netted JHF, Aliir as an example of some of the good players they have got. But they have sacrificed a lot for little return. Having no depth is going to kill them. For one, they have no draft picks this year, they have to sell next years to get into the draft this year.

Sent it to Freo for 2 second round picks (2023 and a future pick). The 2023 pick went to Geelong along with picks 76 and 94 for Esava and the future pick went to Richmond with picks 41, 49 and a future fourth for Soldo and pick 50. Pick 50 then went to the Dogs for Sweet.

Those ruck trades were ok, but they gave up way too much for Esava. That first rounder could be in the pick 10-12 range.

Take away Butters, JHF and Wozee... Their list is deplorable

Kane will back Hinkley full tilt given he carried him to 300 games. Should've been cut at the end of 2012, but Ken gave him a lifeline.

Still can't believe we live in a world where:

Dixon is an AA
DBJ is an AA
Houston is an AA
Wines is a Brownlow Medal winner
Houston is the most believable.
