They are actually reminding me of Ess in 1986. Clear best team at start of the season. Injuries piling up, inconsistent form, can't quite write them off. Hopefully they get their 1 point Elimination Final loss.

As much as Dimma has turned into a genuine dick.

I will say he has changed my mind considerably on the importance of coaches.

I used to think they were responsible for a small percentage of a teams output (Chris scott as an example coat-tailing to his 2011 flag)

I have never really rated Richmonds list, its a good list, but not a great list. But results matter more than list ratings and Dimma completely changing their game plan in 2017 has seen them win their 3 flags. Plus they have been kissed on the proverbial when it comes to injuries. 2017 Prelim they beat a GWS side by 5 points missing 12 best 22 players for example.

Dimma really made the players buy into the team first approach. what their players do without the ball has been 2nd to none the last few years.

In saying that their game plan involves a lot of illegal stuff in the hope that the umpires will only pay 1 in 10 or so indiscretions. This is backed up by the fact since they changed their plan they have given away the most free kicks in the league, but its what they get away with thats more telling. Players across the league try and get away with holding, diving, throwing etc. But the tiges have turned it into a system.

If they’re as ruthless and as professional as they claim to be surely trading Cotchin is on the table. He looks cooked but you could pension him off to the Suns along with Rioli and someone else like a Garthwaite or Martyn and
