Longmuir has been there for two of that 5. Harsh to lay the 3 years of missing finals prior to him being there at his feet when evaluating his tenure.

They’ve been stocking good, young pieces as well, phasing or trading out the old and bringing in the new. Cerra going out might pave the way for them to get in one or even two more really good WA kids. I’m pretty bullish on them to be honest.

I reckon you can all but assume they will be picking Erasmus with either their pick or the Carlton pick

I was a Sturt supporter growing up. Strong memories of Jack sitting in the concrete coaches shelter at Unley Oval in his black overcoat. He seemed old even then. His son Bob was the Norwood coach at the time. Running onto the field after the game, win or lose. Good footy memories.
Yep Double Blues supporter as a kid too. Ever since I stumbled upon a replay of the 1976 grand final I was hooked.

It's not laying the blame.

He's taken over a side that was well into its rebuild.

He doesn't get 3 years grace because he is a new coach or because he's starting form ground zero in terms of the list build.

Beveridge, Sanderson, Simpson, Hinkley, Rutten and Pike were all first time coaches who either made finals immediately of within 2 years with lists that were all over the place.

Throw in Fagan and you have top 4 in the midst of the rebuild and by year 3 of his tenure.

It doesn't take more than 2 preseasons to establish plans in this context. Longmuir is not really getting results.

The blues still havent moved on from the dark ages, it took a drug scandal to realise we had to change, they had the salary cap scandal, but theyve learnt bugger all since that happened.

Im not a huge fan of Lyon, but he will most likely join Malthouse and Pagan on the tarnished coaches that have coached the blues.

How's the timing. Clarko says hell no. Article on Lyon where he admits the optics were bad - he is 'sorry' about that. Supporters are repositioned to accept Lyon, coz you know, he didn't mean to smite Teague. Carlton sacks Teague. Fantastic work, Carlton.

Not mine - but love this:

So, incrementally, that's:

18/46.
43/150.
103/270.
123/324.
126/337.
142/414.
164/464.

464 games coaches for just 164 wins this century.

I know there's been at least 4 draws (3 vs Essendon and 1 vs Port Adelaide.)

164 wins.
4 draws.
168 non losses.

464 - 168 = 296.

I think that's right.

Found it interesting that of 8 communications specialists on afl.com.au, only 1 predicted Carlton would make finals. Carlton have essentially sacked their coach for meeting the expectations of most people in the footy industry. The level of delusion in that club is pathological.
