As a fan of the dissent rule, i am hoping the stupidity of the free given to the blues stays in the spotlight.

Im also hoping the conversation around getting rid of the bounce to bring more umps through gets legs
There's a couple of AFL umps who need replacing.

Get a robot to do the centre bounce so it’s still chaos and not predictable straight up and straight down. Around the ground is already a ball up.

i’m mixed on it, i understand why it’s in the game not only to protect junior umpires from flogs harassing them but also to teach the kids role models how to appropriately act, but it needs to be enforced consistently by all of them, not some. the one last week by laverde was fair, if harsh, but the one last night was ridiculous.

personally, when i player juniors years ago had my fair share of garbage umpiring but the stakes were considerably lower, but in the afl they actually matter & could potentially cost games

Ratugolea in the backline has got to be the most insane bath water drinking bullshit I’ve ever seen.

Any other coach makes the move and it’s viewed as what it actually is which is top shelf desperation stations, probably greater than James Stewart in the backline.

There's a fine but important difference carrying on after a free and pointing to the screen when it's in focus

No one saw cogs. It only comes into focus because of the free. So not only is it controversial but counter intuitive.

Cats look like the perfect storm has hit. Injuries to key players. Bit of a premiership hangover. No Selwood to hold it together behind the scenes.
They can bounce back but they will need to get going next week or top 4 will require something special from them.

afl posted the explanation on twitter earlier today & it made me think about the line that exists between player frustration & dissent. if players aren’t allowed to express some frustration then i’m sure we’ll see more questionable decisions

I am guessing no comment on consistency. Ie when mcgovern did the same in the same game?
