I'm trying to work out what nickname best sums up his spectacular ability to waste available talent.

I can’t imagine the kind of volcanic eruption that all the flankers running away from the kick in and leaving the ruckman to try and play on and create with the game on the line if it happened to a big and legitimate football club.

Imagine what we would think if we lost because Draper was left to take a kick in and Ridley and Redman Just ran off. We’d lynch someone.

He may just have to make some hard calls before he loses the authority to do it.

If he does we will almost certainly reap the reward.
Our future comes down to Vosso being able to steer us in a new direction and being a more hands on footy CEO and not just a money in the bank CEO and Barham keeping the board under control. I am not sold on Scott. I had and still have reservations but I can not pot him until he has had a chance to do something.

Bevo really has butchered the last 7 years. Surely time to put someone else in the seat before the waste bonts whole career

I can hear the collective retort of the industry summed up by Liam Picking:

'That's ridiculous, he's a premiership coach and has coached the Dogs to another GF'. Hear the condescending nasal scoff.

The Dogs are basically Tottenham or Chelsea but have the mentality of, I don't know, Bournemouth. They're just happy to be there.

They have as powerful a list as there is and are set up to overcapitalise on their strength (there is only so much hard ball you can win) and expose their biggest weaknesses (which is their aerial weakness of the back 6).

Shit, even Leicester sacked Ranieri within months of delivering the impossible. Closer to my heart, Napoli didn't extend the contract of Spaletti after he just delivered Napoli's 3rd title after 30 odd year wait.

Leicester was just stupid. Napoli was more political amd about financial control of a project. But it shows that life goes on. I am confident that in an alternate universe a really good coach took charge of the Dogs and they have played in 3 or 4 GFs since 2016 winning 2.

lol spurs, they haven't won shit in years, think they last won a trophy around the time everton last did.

Better off calling them Arsenal

Point taken.

Whereas they base their game style and recruiting on fundamentals of the game, the hard ball and running power, we are caught in an awkward middle ground driven primarily by trying to cover up the reality that we never addressed the fundamentals.

I believe Hawthorn 2023 has beaten up good teams in the same way that the pre-2016 Giants did before that list arrived (I think 16 was the Giants' first finals appearance).

I've hardly ever looked at one of our performances and thought that we took it to a quality opponent moreso than the quirks of the draw enabling us to engage in the circle work in which we have excelled.

There was a stat floating around last year, or earlier this year, that we routinely feature in the lowest pressure matches. That shambles at the Gabba last year was the prime example.

We have played a few good games against the Pies in the last 2 years. That's about it as far as I'm concerned.

The Melbourne game we played in Adelaide was nothing like the pressure last night, for example. So I'm not inclined to place much weight in our victory earlier this year.

Yes, this may be Brunoland but at the end of the day finals is basically the only time you can guarantee that an opponent is at 100% of what it is capable in any given year. We are all familiar enough with our finals record.

Ive been saying this for a while now.

We look great when Merret in particular is allowed to run free. When the clamps get put on him he disappears and the team does very little to help. That Lions win last year was one of the lowest pressure rating games for some time and we carried on like it was a finals win. In hindsight the Lioness' were simply in a training load and didn't want injuries when they entered finals only a matter of weeks later.

s**t, even Leicester sacked Ranieri within months of delivering the impossible. Closer to my heart, Napoli didn't extend the contract of Spaletti after he just delivered Napoli's 3rd title after 30 odd year wait.

The AFL is more obsessed with what it looks like it is doing than what it actually is doing.

Imagine the Dogs sacked Bevo? Some supporters would burn down the portables at Whitten oval and placard the place reclaiming Bevo as you said, he's a premiership coach blah blah blah.

I am wholly with you, he is wasting away one of the strongest lists we have seen for a while. The fact they have not made top four, let alone won more flags is a (dis)credit to the captain steering that ship.

We simply must beat this Giants team. No excuses.
We would need to improve by lots to win. We can't even beat WC/Nth by much, though we have a mental block against teams we should thrash.

It would be so Essendon to win though. This is our GF, then again a week later if we win.

I think we must win both to get in, IDK, anyone doing the maths?
