Max King is moving into over rated territory. Send him back to the VFL to get a kick because right now he looks disinterested
It would be hard playing as forward for that team though, I suspect lyons cheerleaders in the media are starting to focus on King to deflect from Lyons out of touch coaching methods.

I'm so glad Lyon rejected Essendon. Clarkson too.

Lyon has made a complete mess out of St Kilda with the ultra defensive boring game plan he implements. Imagine being so bpred watching your team play even when they're winning.
Can I take this to Scott's thread because if Damian Barrett wants a sliding doors moment, this is it

the outside players are going ok though. Bonner, Wanganeen-Milera, Hill. How those forwards cannot kick a winning score is beyond me

ant555, hindsight is great.
Dogs backline tightened up as the game went on and Naughton still played a role higher up the ground, collecting 20 disposals - 9 contested, and 6 marks, supporting the defenders to do their job and creating space for JUH and Darcy. WB can progress with Naughton not being a presence in the forwardline.
Dogs still win without his 1.2.

The premise remains. I still think he can play back.
Why are you tagging me. All I ever said was he was not as good in defense as people where saying and he was a good forward. My rating was the same at both ends. Never said he had to be FF. In fact it is better when he plays CHF and gets up the ground more.

When you spend most of the game in a high press it is no shock. They can not transition from defense to attack as a team. That is why they can not kick a score but also can hold sides to under 100 and not get smashed. They are simply too defensive and it is an issue with Lyons game plan. If he does not have any star power in the forward line then his sides struggle to score. The times when he had good success at the Saints was when he had some genuine forward stars. Right now he does not.

yeah, but Naughton is an elite fwd im told🎣
So being as good in defense as he is forward stops him from being a good forward ? The numbers say he is a good forward. The numbers also say he was a good defender and not the second coming of Scarlett as a defender.

They started the season well but even theyve dropped off. Alot of the ball going into the saints forward line is really rushed and under pressure at the moment, and with higgins/butler both out its easy pickings for opposition backlines once ball hits the deck.
Im not saying king is having a great year but just think its a bit rough that all the media focus this week has been on him, hes just come back from a knee injury and until yesterday was asked to play deep forward by his coach.
Thats a pretty lonely place to be when your midfield is so dysfunctional, we've seen the same happen to a few of our forwards over the last few years.

He’s playing injured. And also been copping it in the media for a couple of weeks now.

I’d be happy for him to have a fresh start with us.

Not a real shock in Sydney. NRL can draw low numbers on Saturday and there are often sub 10,000 crowds . It took the Swans 25 years to build the support base that has them getting 25,000 to games and a lot of their support base is not from rusted on NRL areas like GWS in Western Sydney.
Has to be taken for what it is. Sydney is not Melbourne. Even the top NRL sides do not fill the grounds week in and week out. 7000 at the Showgrounds which holds 23,000 is similar to 20,000 at Marvel which holds 50,000 .
If they stay the course the Giants will start attracting 15k to 20k which would more than match most NRL games. You can not simply compare their market to ours. Apples and Passionfruit .

Sure but these 2 sides have a history. It's not unreasonable to expect a better turnout than that.

Not really. The Sydney market is what it is

Even that's reliant on Sydney people knowing or appreciating that history. GWS fans back then would know. New followers since then, not so much.

What's interesting to me is that the crowd didn't get to 8000 with the NRL playing Magic Round in Queensland. It rained yesterday and Sydney FC vs. Central Coast for a grand final berth might have seemed a better option on the telly.

its the sum of all parts, sure hes a 7/10 forward but he could be a 9/10 defender and right now that improves the Dogs defence alot imho

Could . In your opinion.

It’s the perfect hull to die on really, no ones actually dumb enough to actually do it so it’s never going to be proved wrong
Yeah but he's not a star forward. He's only kicked 21 goals in 10 games! Only 12 GA in 10 games!
