Sydney have just shown themselves that they can still win big without Chad.

See how Sydney got 25 up on Essendon in the last quarter, but instead of stopping and bottling it they cruised to an easy win? Must be nice.
To be fair we didn’t stop trying to attack when we were up by 4 goals. We had heaps of entries when we were 25 up with Treacy 1v1 in a lot of them. Essendon literally just kicked 4 goals in a row without us touching it. Complete midfield breakdown. Different to other games where we just went defensive.

I liked the look of that Caiden Cleary guy tonight. Young 19 yo from Sydney.
He looks a player - an academy selection too for Sydney.
Cheers afl. w***ers
We could have taken multiple players that played well for Sydney tonight but we didn't, please stop pretending that somehow Sydney succeed just solely because of some "unfair gifts" that the AFL magically bestow on them.

Just look at how many games Collingwood and Essenscum and Richmond have ever played outside Victoria in the last 20 years. Fewer games in total than Sydney, Adelaide, Port, Freo or Brisbane do in a single season.

So Fing sick of this mantra that Sydney somehow get gifts from the AFL, it is just a VFL mantra to hurt everyone outside Victoria including Freo

Really wish they’d just remove discounts and fix the points allocated to each selection tbh.

Honestly think academies are needed but they’ve been poorly executed in a way that makes them a genuine advantage rather than just equalisation. Go home factor is a massive disadvantage and something is needed but the AFL is too incompetent to get it right.

Wrong. We could have bid on those academy players but Sydney would have matched and got said players... At a discount with junk picks.

Isaac Heeney was bid on at pick #2 in his 2014 draft, the rules at the time was that the club could match that bid with the next available pick, which turned out to be pick #18.

So yeah, not the same situation at all.

This is a perfect example of what I am talking about when I say that changing the rules actually increases the advantage of the club who took a player on the old system. The following season the AFL brought in the points.

Mills bid #3 - matched with picks #33, 36, 37 and 43

Then they changed the rules to prevent bulking up on late picks like that. Sydney still kept Heeney and Mills, but all the academy and father son clubs after had to pay far more.
