Crows conceded 100 points in winning by 10 goals and people are talking them up and us down on that basis?! 100 points!
When we score 150 points at the MCG let me know.

Adelaide's game plan was focused on a well structured forward line, an intelligently selected 22 player team, and a focus on attack.

I truly don't care how many points we give up as long as we score 1 more point than we concede.

And the contrast in coaching style, team selection and player freedom is why folks are talking Adelaide up.
Tell me the last time (even when playing a zero win bottom of the ladder side) JLo trotted out any properly selected team that was switched on in Q1 and then attacked consistently, strong balance of kicks and lots of contest at the marks?

When we score 150+ points and win by 8+ goals at the MCG let me know, ey?

Nicks has been coaching Crows for as long as JL has been coaching us with a significantly worse record. If we had kept him that long this board would have been losing their shit but now suddenly he’s a really good coach?
Yep. Like if Jlo suddenly found a gameplan that emphasised creative flair and goal kicking. He’d be a good coach.

Very pithy, but demonstrably wrong. Sides that are poor defensively don't win premierships, or even get close. Just outscoring your opponent is obviously not enough. Like anyone can establish this by just looking at past ladders. No in depth analysis required.
It is such an obvious fact that even engaging with the idea that just one more point is enough is probably going to be a waste of time.

You could say the sky is blue on this board and you'd still get downvoted and argued against.

Like I said, I'll take (very much) us being "poor" defensively if it means we win every game by an 8 goal margin and score 150 points at the MCG.

The obsession with defense under JLo has just eliminated so much flair and created so much second guessing by our own players it is just killing any joy watching Freo.

No idea why you of all posters are suddenly so driven to die on the hill that somehow an interstate club (or any club actually) scoring 150+ points at the G is a bad football result, but I'll leave you to it.

Nicks has had plenty of games like this in the past, even last year. They look very good all out but until they fix up their defence they’ll get exposed against better teams.

Crows have always been a very good offensive team over these past few years yet they haven’t made finals under Nicks.

Yes, sides that are poor defensively typically don’t win premierships.

Conversely, sides that are poor offensively typically don’t win premierships either.

We have been poor offensively for a long time. We have never finished in the top 8 for points scored under JL, and haven’t finished in the top 8 for points scored since 2014.

I think that’s why people here feel frustrated when they look at a team like Adelaide who score at ease and look good doing it. When on the other end we often struggle to bring up 10 goals.

It’s like, if we are going to be sh*t can we at least be an exciting sh*t?

No, because it teaches poor habits. Finals are won by teams who are good both offensively and defensively. It is always easier to run forward of the ball then behind because everyone loves a goal.

The teams that defend as ferociously as they attack win cups.

Yes that’s basically what I’m saying? The best teams have a good balance of both. We haven’t found that balance yet and I don’t think Adelaide have either, but Adelaide certainly look closer right now.

Doesn’t matter how good our defence is when we are finishing in the bottom half of the ladder every year because we regularly struggle to kick winning scores. 10 goals ain’t gonna win you many games and that seems to be our average.

Which is why I said, if we are going to be shit I’d rather be an exciting shit like Adelaide (I don’t know if I can even call Adelaide shit anymore, they look pretty good), rather then a hard to watch shit like Freo often are.

Adelaide have consistently over the past few years looked like finals fancies and crashed and burned at the finish every single time. I've not seen anything from Nicks to believe he will take them anywhere.

Wait until they play a good team before acting like the sky is falling down and they've gone past us.

Why are we going to be shit? We're not suddenly not a contender because we lost to Geelong in Geelong. What's with the idea we're shit based on one game?

We’ve made finals once in the past 9 years and lost our first game of the season by 80. As of right now, we are categorically shit and that’s not arguable.

Fortunately, this team has the talent and potential to change that. Whether that happens this season or whether it happens under JL, is yet to be seen.

FWIW, I tipped us to beat the Swans tomorrow. That would be a good start.
