It's more than just this game for Carlton supporters. They were 9:6 to 0:0 in the elimination final. Got beaten in the last minute in their final game of last season and the only teams they beat in the last 8 games of last season were North and West Coast.

Jeez that was shocking stuff by the blues. Fair play to the tigers. Loved the look of Luke Trainor he’s gonna be a serious player. Lalor too but as expected from your pick 1.

As for Carlton they were horrific. They seem to be a mentally weak team and it’s very hard to turn that around. You just knew McKay was going to scuff that clutch kick at goal late on for example, as soon as he took the mark. He looked anxious and stressed and he’s one of their better players!

They have no forward scoring threat without Curnow. Opposition just needs to blanket McKay and then that’s it. Nothing else to worry about.

Every year we all talk around in circles every off season but then the games start and it becomes apparent if you don’t have one of the best forward units in the competition you ain’t winning shit.

Carlton have one elite forward - Curnow
One very good forward - McKay (usually)

Then heaps of daylight.

Their 3rd best forward onwards are all dog shit.

If Curnow doesn’t play, they have no answers when a bit of defensive heat is applied.

By the way I propose a ban over on the freo list management thread for anyone silly enough to suggest we trade in Motlop. Nowhere near good enough for this level of football. Will be back in state league football when his contract expires.
