On that note, I cannot believe that Fremantle - a side with legitimate flag aspirations - is going for a player who has been delisted from two sides already and hasn't gone back through a state league first.
I would strongly suspect that he already had a deal lined up with freo but freo were not prepared to trade anything for him. As a non-critical player for them, port did him a favour by delisting him.

If he didn’t have a deal lined up with freo he probably stays on ports list on a lower contract.

Would he qualify as a DFA, having already been delisted from us?

Yes, I was just trying to confirm that he was delisted from us. It was a rude shock to me that DFAs are always DFAs when Stengle's contract was running out...
They're technically only DFA in the year that they get delisted. That's the year they join in the DFA period. After that they're UFA and join during the free agency window

You would think they could at least order them decently FFS also they are over estimating some clubs and underestimating others

Just the standard overrating of Essendon pre season.

I'd have Richmond, West Coast and North as bottom 4. North might not be that far away from breaking out of the bottom 4.

Essendon and Saints as also rans.

Everyone else a chance for finals.

Agreed but Port for example really shouldn't be in "Flag contender" but finals contender group

Yikes here.

Besides this being ordered like absolute dogshit, there is too many flag contenders, way too many finals contenders. The only thing spot on is 3/4 bottom 4.|

How are Essendon, who are now worse post trade window a finals contender but St Kilda, who are just as bad, a bottom 4 lock?

Needs another category called "Limbo".
North, Richmond and WCE are bottom 4. Hell pencil the Tigers in for the spoon right now.
Saints, Bombers, GCS, Croms will be in Limbo aka between 10th and 14th. They might be in the finals race later into the season than you expect but they aren't a realistic chance.
Then you need another category for the teams like Freo, Blues, Pies and Port who are a great chance to make finals, maybe even top 4, but aren't winning the flag next year.

Who would be desperate enough to pay to attend an event like this
