Bloody hell. Preseason injuries are mounting. Hopefully our injury list is like our 24 season. Problems at the start of the preseason, and problems all gone by the end of it.
Injuries create opportunity and I am not completely sure we would have won the Premiership without them in 24 tbh.
A couple of the forced changes were a Godsend.
But certainly hoping for a full list to choose from in 25’ particularly in the key forward stocks.

Agree but 2023 not so much

I think Freo might win the flag this year.

On the flip side the Demons look like a great place to be. It’d suck being a demons fan. Only flag in 70 odd years and years and you can’t attend because it’s played in Perth.

Didn't realise both Amiss and Treacy are just 21 and 22. Promising key positions to build a side around, not to mention they have an elite defensive 6 already. Fremantle have gone all in with Shai Bolton as well. They have a chance to stay at the pointy end of ladder and cash-in when Tassie arrives taking all the draft wealth away.

Do they really need him? They already have a pretty stacked forward line, so not sure I would spend heaps on him

Pickett could replace Walters actually. I'd say Pickett would add more to their list compared to Chad Warner. Dockers have a conga line of midfield talent at the moment - they also picked up Murphy Reid this year who's a top prospect. Warner would be surplus to them - not to mention the top dollar he'll demand.

I read that Fyfe, Walters and Aish are all out of contract at the end of the season. That frees up a little cap space. Wonder when Brodie is out of contract.

I wonder if Murphy Reid even gets close to the first team in his first 3 years, with the other young mids in their reserves.

I think fremantle has an abundance of pure mids and not enough who can sort of go forward and do what Bailey or Rayner do for us. Murphy's profile reads like a goalkicking mid so they may benefit fitting him in, possibly pushing Banfield out of the half forward line.

If they wait for a pure mid role to open up, they'll start losing all these high draft picks like Erasmus, Johnson, Murphy Reid and so on.

I'm still surprised that they haven't traded out Sean Darcy who would be worth decent trade capital not to mention even more dollars off their books. Seems to be constant talk about him leaving since Jackson joined them but yet to eventuate.

West Coast will grab Warner, Pickett and Starcevich in the same off season.

Not sure how it works.

Can Starcevich sign for say one more year and then have the same free agent rights or does that opportunity happen only once?

Once you have become free agent eligible you retain that indefinitely.

After eight years with one club you become a restricted free agent if you're in the club's top 25% of earners in that year, or an unrestricted free agent if you're in the other 75%. If you're an RFA that's where matching comes into play. Once you hit 10 years with the one club, you're automatically an unrestricted free agent.

There are other ways (delisting, etc) to become an unrestricted free agent too.

I don’t believe Murphy Reid is really a goal kicking mid at AFL level. He’s very much a pure inside mid, but doesn’t posses the power and explosiveness of Rayner or the evasiveness and speed of Bailey. He’s much more like a Pendlebury in style and athletic profile, albeit more hand ball skilled and reliant.

He played in a stacked Sandringham side, where everyone kicked goals for fun, and all mids spent a fair bit of time rotating forward.
