Since we're well and truly in the offseason now and don't have much footy related content to discuss, I thought it would be a good idea to create a thread where we can discuss anything that's not Suns related. I'll kick it off. The Queensland state election is this Saturday and it looks like most are anticipating a new government to be ushered in. As most of us already know, the Gold Coast has long been considered a conservative area that is dominated by the LNP or its earlier iterations. However, we did see 5 GC seats become marginal in the 2020 election (Currumbin, Coomera, Burleigh, Mermaid Beach & Southport) so it's possible that we'll see some Gold Coast seats swing to another party. There's also the curious case of the minor parties in Queensland and seeing whether they can retain their seats e.g. Will the Green retain their inner Brisbane seats? Will the Katters keep their stranglehold in north Queensland? The Olympic stadium situation is another interesting talking point that will affect footy in Queensland.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts/predictions on the upcoming QLD election?

A change of Government is due and no one seems to like Giggles as premier.

I early voted in the Mermaid Beach district and interestingly I asked the leaflet bearers what their party were going to do for the constituents.

liberals just looked at each other and could not answer, I took it as a sign of complacency as they have held the seat for a long time

I then asked Labor and he stated “change”. I know he was talking about the seat but I must admit it felt like “change for more of the same”

They are all self serving sharks IMO
