Norm Smith Medal - How did Bigfooty call it?

Sewell turned the ball over too much IMO

RoK & Hanners were the best 2, Franklin might of got it if the Hawks got up.

I think that 28 touches and 15 tackles says a lot about ROK's game, was involved in most contests for all four quarters and was very important for the Swans. If he had kicked a goal or two no-one would question him.

Mcveigh, Sewell and Hannebery all great and then throw a blanket over about 20 other players imo, really good final with lots of good players.

LRT should have won it, the most underrated player in the AFL.

Kicked a crucial goal in the third quarter and then took some big marks in the last quarter when the Swans were under the pump, laid some big tackles too and just never gives up.

He isn't the most skillful player going around but if you want a guy in the trenches alongside you then LRT would be one of the first guys I would pick.

Surprised there isn't as much love for McVeigh as I thought there would be - he seemed to me to be a real steadying force for Sydney when the Hawks were coming hard, including 2 good goals when you felt the Swans needed a lift.

3 - Mike Pyke - Had to shoulder the burden of Mumford not showing up. Took some great grabs at important times and nullified what looked like a Hale lead clearance rampage in the 1st qtr once he took over from Mummy.
2 - Buddy - Was clearly the best forward on the ground and got the Hawks and the crowd back into the game
1 - Hannebury - Has arrived. Tough all day and didn't lose a 1 on 1

Special mentions - Roffey, Mitchell (1st half), Hale, Jetta (X factor bursts), Shaw. Didn't put ROK in the top 5. I hate when people win Norm Smith's on stats and not on impact

1. Hanneberry
2. ROK
3. Sewell

Sewell just didn't do enough with it IMO. I thought Hanneberry would take it; he had plenty of ball, used it well, hit the scoreboard and took a couple of really strong marks. Nice all round game.

Apologies McVeigh and LRT ... and Pyke's first half was bloody good too.

i thought Pyke was outstanding.....Hannebery could consider himself stiff...but ROK was immense...clean, hard and very influential all day...McVeigh's ball use was superb....and considering I had backed seven different Swans to take home Normie other than him.....he had me schitting myself at the presentation!

Had money on RoK before the game & was pretty confident before the announcement - 15 tackles was massive. Very hard to argue it wasn't deserved.

Hannebury & Sewell clearly next best.

I'm a bit dirty after plonking $20 on at 34/1 but ROK was a worthy winner.
