Is it about the Utah "War"?

There's a dude from that situation called Daniel Wells.

I'd have never heard of the Utah War if the algorithm wasn't non existent nearly 20 years ago.

Yes but from what I can gather it’s a loose historical interpretation

In fact I watched all his movies up to twin peaks which I've never seen. The only one I've seen since is Mullholland Dv but I was drunk and can't remember it.

Blue Velvet was wild. Dennis Hopper man. What a ****en nutcase.

Shee-it, I haven't watched Lynch since I was in my undergraduate morning stoner period, back in the mid-noughties.

The only thing I remember in good detail of his is Twin Peaks. Because it predated that period of my life.

I can recall incredibly vaguely watching Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive, but not with any great recollection.

Guess its time to flick one on and discover what lays in the deep forgotten depths of my hippocampus.

I just posted on the M&E board similar thoughts about Blue Velvet…it shocked me that evil could be right in front of us as an innocent 20 year old

I’m about a third of the way through reading, or rather listening to The Reformatory by Tananrive Due and I’m absolutely hooked.

It’s historical fiction/horror.

Can see why the reviews are so good.

Has anyone else read it or started reading it?

Can not recommend this book enough. I was put off because of the horror/fantasy element of it, but honestly it’s incredible.

I reckon I saw an interview with the author on CNN shortly before “they’re eating the cats” debate in October and it got my interest at the time

It’s such a good book. I wasn’t sold when I read the blurb, but it works. It’s not an easy read, set in the Jim Crow south, there’s a feeling of hopelessness I got when reading and then there’s the supernatural element… which I think really adds to the general feeling of the environment down there. One of the best works of fiction I’ve listened to and I have listened to 154 books since 2023

Mostly non fiction, but a lot of fiction in there.
