Wouldn’t be the worst choice and he comes with an assistant coach
I’m just saying, the players already know the rules and how to play and all that. Ted's got the perfect skill set for the rest.
Can they bring Roy Kent to captain the team as well?
I am absolutely on board with Roy Kent.

No Voss, No Williams, No Lyon, No Roos.

There’s plenty of experienced assistants out there gagging for a chance.
Yeah all the recycled options are meh. There’s nobody out there like Ratten who was super hard done by to be sacked.

Whoever it is, just make sure they give a damn about ball movement.

Would prefer someone mature who's done the senior job before. Can't afford to have someone in the top job who hasn't done it before given our current situation.
Agree. Our last three coaches have all been assistants. Its time to look at an experienced senior coach who is credentialed in developing young players.

North Melbourne champion David King believes an experienced coach “as far back as Mick Malthouse” is the right option to lead the club forward as Rhyce Shaw departs.

The Kangaroos confirmed last week Shaw was taking an extended break from coaching for personal reasons, and today announced both parties had agreed to part ways “effective immediately”.

Speaking on Fox Footy’s Ultimate Preview, King said a veteran coach should be the one to take the reigns.

“I think they need to go with someone really experienced, someone that’s able to take some bullets over the next couple of years and take the pain of losing some games,” he said.

“I’m going to experienced guys - even someone as far back as Mick Malthouse. Someone who can settle the ship.”

Speaking to Foxfooty.com.au, King said that, much like the rest of the North Melbourne brethren, his first thoughts centred on Shaw’s wellbeing.

“Everyone’s known about it for a little while - his health and his family’s health and happiness is front of mind. Outside of that, that’s all we’ve taken in as Kangaroos fans and I’m no different to that,” the two-time premiership player said.

Asked whether the club needed to move quick to find a replacement ahead of an eventful trade period, King said the focus should be on getting the decision right rather than doing it hastily.

“I don’t think it’s urgent at all, I think there’s plenty of time,” he said.

“The club’s in a position where, lets be realistic about it, we’re not threatening for flags or anything like that. The decisions on lists and those sorts of things have already been forecast by Glenn Luff, Scott Clayton and his crew so they’re in good hands there.

“There’s a lot of decisions to be made on players who are looking for trades or potentially moving on like Ben Brown is. Those discussions are ongoing, they’ve been happening while Rhyce has been away from the club. I don’t think there’s any real time pressure, it’s just a matter of getting the decision correct.”

Someone who always intrigued me has been Scott Campeorele. Did excellent as interim coach . Assisted a team that made a GF. Yes Adelaide had their downfall after but I find it interesting his name is never brought up ever .

Whispering? I heard yelling.
Scott Burns

Coaching Experience

West Coast Eagles Assistant Coach 2009 – 2013
Collingwood Football Club Midfield Coach 2014 – 2017
Hawthorn Football Club Assistant Coach – 2018 - 2020
Adelaide Assistant Coach - 2020 - current

After 264 games for Collingwood, including the captaincy for the 2008 season, Burns retired from playing AFL and joined the West Coast coaching panel in season 2009. Scott played a key role in West Coast’s climb back up the ladder to play finals football again. 2014 then saw Scott return home to Collingwood where he undertook an assistant coaching role within the midfield. Scott moved to the Hawthorn Football Club ahead of the 2018 season where he is now an assistant coach under Alistair Clarkson.

Highly rated assistant to become Nicks' right-hand man

He has been in AFL coaching ranks for over a decade, with successful stints at West Coast and Collingwood, and will now mentor Adelaide's defenders.

Originally from Norwood, he also enjoyed a decorated on-field career, playing 264 AFL games with Collingwood and captaining the club.

Crows Head of Football Adam Kelly described Burns as a quality person whose skills and experience are well suited to the current profile of the playing list.

“Scott is highly regarded by everyone he has worked with across the industry,” Kelly said.

“We are excited by what he will bring to our coaching group, having gleaned knowledge and experience from some of the best coaches of the modern era.

“He knows what it takes to be part of a successful football program and we can’t wait for him to start.”

Burns is excited at the prospect of working with Adelaide’s emerging players.

“When I reflect on my coaching career so far, the most enjoyable and rewarding times have been working with a developing playing list, with young players supported by strong on-field leaders,” Burns said.

“The Crows have talked about transitioning their list and we saw positive signs in the last few weeks of the season.

“I feel as though my skills and experience can help Nicksy and the other coaches, as well as the playing group, going forward.”

Got a bit of Alan Richardson/ Jade Rawlings "success happens where he ain't" about his cv.

I was hanging for the opinion of Xavier Ellis.

She bringing Andrew Swallow along as part of her coaching team?

Got a bit of Alan Richardson/ Jade Rawlings "success happens where he ain't" about his cv.

He’s got the Brian Royal/ Jade Rawlings “that ship has sailed” vibe.

Brendan McCartney was sacked as Bulldogs coach on 10 October 2014 and Luke Beveridge not appointed until 14 November. In that time, they recruited Shane Biggs, Joel Hamling and Tom Boyd. All three played in their premiership side.
But but but that doesn’t suit the narrative. “North not my favourite” “I dunno, just don’t like em” “They got no money, they should be shit“ “yaaaaaay, yeah, yellow and black!” Or whatever inane flipping drivel these clowns have in their head.

Bit of a smoky in this one I’m going to say... but I think North should approach Alistair Clarkson. You just never know, he could backflip Hawthorn and say it’s time for a new change. I feel like he would do a good job with the people we get into the club, and already have.
