The Invincible’s

Coach Crock and his crew laid out the grand plan.
Hard work and belief from the Shinboner clan.

Lead by the mighty and miserly ministry of defense.
Ferg, Wrighty, Bressy and Birch put up a fence.

Only one goal conceded in the biggest game of all.
They tackled and harassed for the Lions to fall.

A centre line of champions led by Gatty, Jazzy and Tess.
Throw in 2 Kings and the sublime Riddell finesse.

A Rolls Royce of a forward line led by Randall and Shierlaw.
We had Alice and a wrecking Wall who built the score.

A support crew lead by Jenna, Erika and Ruby.
Let’s not forget Smithy and Rennie who’s a beauty.

A team needs a leader, and Kearney is their principal.
A Captain of a team in 2024 that was simply invincible.

Rennie is contracted until 2026.

The only players that are yet to sign for 2025 (and beyond) are:

Bresnehan
Burke
Kavanagh
Emma King
Martin
McGrath
Pullar
Savarirayan
Shierlaw
Wall
they need to put paper in front of few of them - personally I'd start with Vicki Wall

Something that struck me last night and has just stayed with me since... was just how massive and unified the NORTH MELBOURNE crowd was.

That crowd was genuinely 95% North Melbourne fans, and it was packed. And we were happy, and jubilant, and loud.

And the crowd stayed after the game.

Yeah, we're a "small" club. But not in spirit. Not in passion. Not in loyalty.

That was special.
I loved the diversity too, surrounded by north supporters but all different types. Had a family with young kids in front of us, some drunk hooligans to the right, teenage supporters behind and ladies who seemed to be around 55-65 years old to the left.

Every group was just so into it, one of the young kids in the family was starting chants that the drunk hooligans utterly bought into every time. Amazing vibes throughout

Oh just on this topic...

Unless it comes in the mail in a few weeks, I didn't get a parking fine last night.

But the parking situation around Princes Park is completely rooted.
I got to the game a bit too late when the stands were already full but there was still plenty of free parking at the zoo at that time.

I know he’s not on here anymore, so on behalf of Snake / Tef I’d like to pass on his congratulations to the North AFLW team. As you’re all aware Snake / Tef is a huge supporter of AFLW and for the girls to not only win the premiership but to do it under the stewardship of his two favourite female leaders in Sonja Hood and Jen Watt, well it just doesn’t get any better.

Might have just been a perception thing but overall I thought it was a “young crowd” as well.

So many kids. So many young women.
That’s what we want 😍

I loved that there were so many young fans. Kids who've never seen any success and maybe roll into school every Monday with mates talking up their team and maybe ridiculing them for following "Norf".

It was such a happy crowd.

Reading a bit into Crock’s comment on us living a ‘one club’ philosophy- I wonder if it includes the strategy of game style being played. Men’s team want to play attacking footy, need to work on setup around the ball-also have a strong midfield on paper. Women’s team are very attacking, setup up incredibly well behind the ball, and are midfield strong. Emphasis on the overlap handball and handball chains.
I thought we were in trouble because we had an "easy" win and the lions had a proper hit out against the crows

A few end of season stats:
  • we have the fourth most victories in AFLW history with 54 from 75 matches, behind Adelaide (66 from 93), Brisbane (54 from 93) and Melbourne (62 from 87)
  • we have the third fewest losses in AFLW history. We have lost 19 of our 75 matches, behind Essendon (16) and Hawthorn (17) who have both played only 33.
  • Since joining the AFLW our winning percentage is 72%, which is the highest in the league, ahead of Melbourne (71.26%), Adelaide (70.97%) and Brisbane (69.89%).
  • Our cumulative points percentage is 172.92%, which is the highest in the league, ahead of Adelaide (162.29), Brisbane (152.07%) and Melbourne (145.74%).

Watching the replay, apart from marks, the only correct umpiring decision in the first 10 minutes was the throw against Davidson.

The free Alice got in front of the Gardiner Stand where the Lions fans were in the second quarter was an absolute stinker. Should have been the other way
