few have mentioned this but need to start thinking about how we stagger retirements

next year i reckon shierlaw and kearney retire
the year after rennie and wright retire
year after that sheerin and emma king retire

and we can keep getting gun vets who are 3-4 years younger around late 20s early 30s to replace them who want a flag to keep us in contention and that dynasty going

Sheerin might have longer in her than that.

Once again: HYBPA.

If that process hadn't already started, we'd still have Duffin on our list. And Gillespie-Jones, Ashmore, Abbatangelo, Hardiman, Gibson, Hope...

But, to be clear, just as Tasmania enter the competition and soak up all the u18 talent, you want us to get rid of a 34yo Eilish Sheerin and 32yo Emma King?

Replace them with younger veterans in their late 20s is what I said to ensure we keep in contention

And also they would be 35 and 33

In other words: players who are currently in their prime and getting towelled up by 35yo Kearney and Shierlaw.

If Kearny , sheirlaw ect are still playing good footy then might want to go on after next season.

Some of these players are late to the game and havdd ed only played for under 10 years

How many years of local footy did Sheerin play in NSW before she was drafted by Richmond? Seems like she's been playing the game for about 5 years and not much more. She should have plenty of miles left in her.

Yeah and it’s not like they’re going to lose much speed

Dude why are you so desperate for Rennie to retire? She's not even old! Hahahahaha

I was just about to ask that! She's years from retirement and still a very good player!

'The tenth Telstra AFLW Draft is shaping up to be the deepest and most even to date... there appears to be relatively common consensus among clubs as to who sits in the top seven or eight spots. From there, another seven or so players sit in the mid-first round selection tier, and then, as one list manager put it, "throw a blanket on picks 15 to 40". Clubs must match bids with a pick within 18 selections, with no draft value index points in play in the women's competition, nor future or live pick swaps.

Interesting, I didn't realise you can't live trade on the night. So clubs would want to have a pick with in 18 of their bid.
I'd say we tried to move up the draft order early in the trade period to get into the 2nd tier group.
Then maybe we backed out of the deal because Sheerin came into play? Would be interesting to know.

Given we've got two list spots and three draft picks, could we keep an injured player on the LTI?
Or do any manouvering with making them injury replacement players to open up a list spot?
I suppose there might be a player who doesn't re-sign, althought you'd think they would've been traded/delisted.
