Does the AFLW season schedule swing erratically from year to year or am I imagining it?

Heard the new rules ?

If a team goes undefeated and dominates the G.F. to win the flag they start the next season on - 20 points / or 5 games to give the big clubs ( see Pies, Tigers, Carl, *, ) a chance.

It swings dramatically every year, but I read an article a few months ago saying the new head of aflw, Emma Moore said her first agenda is to lock in a start and end date permanently.

Doesn't need to be a lion. Could just be Dakota Davidson.
If you are going to have Davidson, why not include Taylor Smith and have Ferguson and Birch standing over them with their bootā€™s on their faces driving them into the turf while holding aloft the Premiership Cup. šŸ˜Š

Canā€™t really have permanent dates if theyā€™re adding more rounds in the future

North Melbourne players not mentioned in this Additional Services Agreement rort. This surely can't be true as we were reliably informed by somebody on here that our wages bill for AFLW was far in excess of any other club.

No, Iā€™m as talentless as they come, three years olds can draw better than me.
You're probably better at it than you think then. Tho I feel the same way. My kids are better than I am.

Oh no, I know for a fact that Iā€™m the worst in history, I wanted to be an architect as a kid but I failed because couldnā€™t even draw a basic house. I take the term ā€œartistically talentlessā€ to a whole new low.

250k to play 10 games a year - where do I sign up

Lol. Geez that's not much extra marketing earnings if $127,693 is shared among 30 listed players from next year.
Clearly our Tier 1 players would be Garner and Riddell - Base payment of $95,336 ($109,760 in 2025) plus ASA.
You'd think Shierlaw, Birch, Sheerin, Bresnahan, Mia King and Randall perhaps might be the Tier 2 players.
As I've said before it wouldn't surprise me if Emma is on the lowest tier given she has the 100k coaching salary.

Wow that is a lot extra for a few players - donā€™t begrudge any of them making what they can but if a serious competition canā€™t have this much incentive being offered outside the cap.

I think you'll find 'aesthetically deprived' a more diplomatic formulation - worked for my music šŸ˜œ

If every club can do it is it really outside the cap though?
On paper it looks fair if everyones doing it.

But in reality some clubs are far more marketable than others, and giving free reign only makes those clubs stronger.

Far more businesses would want to get involved with Collingwood than they would Gold Coast etc.

Yes but in the reality of the AFLW space, if Gold Coast's women's team attracts more eyeballs than Collingwood's women's team, then it really doesn't make sense for a business to throw money at a player from Collingwood, especially if they are not a marquee player of the competition. Nobody gives a **** about Collingwood's AFLW team, not even Collingwood nuffies. Collingwood didn't deserve to be a foundation club in the AFLW, has never taken AFLW seriously, and the results speak for themselves.

You're literally saying the same thing I am. I just picked 2x clubs at random.

If X club is more attractive for Y reason than Z club, then they will benefit far more from uncapped sponsorship.

I was reflecting on the list build of our Premiership 21. Itā€™s a credit to Gowans and Crocker, as well as others like Rhys Harwood and Flynn Loft, how well we have done to incrementally piece the puzzle together, getting closer every season.

2019
Kearney, Garner, Bruton, Riddell, Randall, Em King, Bresnehan

2020
M King, Wright

2021
Oā€™Loughlin, Eddey, Smith

2022A
Craven, Ferguson, Rennie

2022B
Oā€™Shea, Wall, Gatt

2023:
Shierlaw, Tripodi

2024:
Birch

It also reminded me of the concern when Ashmore, Gilroy, Bannister and Bateman all left after 2022A. Fair to say that the eventual replacements were a significant upgrade.
