I agree with the above.

A huge congratulations to our entire AFLW squad, coaching staff and program. And to do it in such convincing fashion is very memorable.

I am so proud of everyone involved right now and looking forward to seeing what we can do in the finals.

Bring that trophy home ladies!

If given the same opportunity Pullar is better than smith

And was better than her last year
Pullar was great last year, no doubt. But I'm going to go with common sense and the coach. When you've won ten and a half games, dropping a player that has earned her spot - easily - for a this-year-barely-tested option, going into the finals, is...both bold and ridiculous. We are the best team in the league, by a margin. We've barely made a change all year. I don't know why we would start now.

A few "end of the regular season" stats.

  • We won 36 of 44 quarters and 26 of the last 28 quarters.
  • we kicked 96.80.656 which is a new record total for the regular season. Melbourne still holds the record for the highest average, scoring 65.3ppg last season. Our average this was 59.6.
  • Tahlia Randall who was our leading goal scorer last season finished as our 4th leading scorer this season. Shierlaw was our leading scorer with 15.7 followed by O'Loughlin (14.9), Garner (13.9) and then Randall with 12.10.
  • Today was our ninth consecutive win, beating our previous record of eight wins between R2 2020 and R2 2021.

When’s the aflw awards?

Garner, oloughlin, riddell all aus pls and thanks

Maybe birch in the squad also
You go through the season undefeated you should expect more than one or two players in the All Australian. Garner and Riddell are certs, perhaps Mia King as well. Shierlaw and O'Loughlin are chances in the forward half.

Our defense is 80pts better than the next best, if we don't have at least one defender in the team it will be a ****in' disgrace. I think Birch has been the best intercept defender/fullback this season and O'Shea may be a chance as a running halfback.

Shierlaw is getting better with age, marking, goal kicking, pace, working back to defense to help out, has already exceeded her career averages for most stat's, been a great acquisition
Shierlaw kicked 27.21 in 44 games for Carlton and St Kilda and has kicked 27.17 in 21 games for NMFC. She has gone from a good mobile forward to a potential All-Australian since arriving at Arden Street.

Kudos to Kate for the work she has put over the last two years, but credit also the Crocks and his assistants for developing a game plan and a structure that gets the best out of her and our other players.

how many monsoons did Melbourne play in last year?
About 5 less than us.

If you exclude the Geelong, Port, Carlton, Richmond and Dogs games which all had wet to monsoon conditions for at least a quarter we averaged 68.8ppg in the other six.

Once again the commentators were able to find fault with our girls or at least one did. According to her, we can't afford the same inaccuracy we showed in the early stages of the game, when we "come up against the good sides" in the finals.

Now it would be nice to get rid of some of the misses, but in my mind at least, the inference was that we will need to display greater accuracy if we are to beat teams that are better than us.

Oh well, we will see over the next 4 weeks whether or not we are quite in the same class as the good sides in the competition.
