AFL last year (actual quote): "We have scheduled all games on a Saturday and Sunday to maximise crowds and viewership".

I guess we'll find out if crowds and viewership are still important.

Hmm, I think there will only be two games in Melbourne: North and either Richmond or Hawthorn hosting, depending on who wins. Freo will host one and then either Brisbane or Port.

But I’m sure you are right that all Melbourne games will be at Optus. The days probably will vary according to which games they are.

If it’s a very low scoring game it’s possible for Hawthorn to lose and stay above Brisbane’s percentage and they both ‘win’ and host. Would be curious if that played out.
North Game Hawks game and tigers game could all be home? A Melbourne team can finish 6th and play at home to 7th.

Refer to last quarter of the grand final last year

I’ll paint you a picture a hobbled Dakota Davidson destroying wright twice to give them the lead
Thats your idea of painting a picture with words? A sentence? Even minimilism has more detail than that.

Brisbane could have cost themselves $1M + home final by putting in a crap last quarter.

They are currently the reigning AFL and AFLW Premiers. I think they'll be OK.

Besides, when did caring about the McClelland Trophy become a thing? It used to be that curiosity you looked up in the Footy Record in the days when you had to buy the Record to work out what G v H and K v L was around the grounds, but no one actually cared who won it.

It didn’t matter in the end. Hawks won. However, halfway through the last quarter, Brisbane were looking at playing a final away because they took the foot off the peddle. Also, $1M is a fair amount of money. Or am I missing something?

Yep. You're missing that winning premierships is really all that matters.

I don't think Brisbane's margin was relevant.

If Hawks had lost a close one and Brisbane had won by the amount they were ahead at 3 quarter time, the Lions would have finished second. Wouldn’t that have meant a home final + winning the $1M? Or am I missing something?

$1m is McClelland Trophy, combined points across mens and womens comp (W counts for double).

Not sure re percentage for 2nd/3rd.

it's incredibly stupid especially in a year like this where Hawthorn got baby's first fixture in both leagues.

Three things can deny us of the final glory…
1. Injuries
2. Umpires
3. And I don’t want to single out a certain individual, so I won’t mention who.
Dont forget the weather...While we play well in wet weather we play better in calm and dry conditions...

Inaccurate kicking, apparently, we are sh!t in front of goal.

Going into season 2024, Brisbane, Melbourne and North Melbourne shared the record for the most consecutive finals appearances with five.

Brisbane and North Melbourne will now compete in their sixth consecutive finals series, and they will go into the finals series as favourites to meet again in the Grand Final.
