We shouldn’t overlook the plan and effort that Adelaide produced tonight. Our greatest achievement was withstanding them.
100%.

They gave it everything and worked their arses off to play a plan that attacked our strengths. But we stood up to it.

I will need someone who watched with commentary but what was Ellie Blackburn saying in studio? I ways got the feeling she may duck across to North late in her career if it was her only shot at another premiership
She’s not the greatest television talking head. Who is? However, she tells it as it is and is fair.

Marinoff had a lot of ball tonight, 31 disposals along with 13 tackles and 5 clearances, but she only gained 296 metres and her disposal efficiency was a paltry 29%. And so dominant was Garner in the third quarter that it looked like Marinoff was playing a negating role on her. And after a solid start both Ponter and Gould were almost ineffectual after half time. It felt like North learnt just as much from that win two weeks ago as Adelaide learnt in their loss.

I know it really didn't make the difference as the margin was over a goal but the free to North late in Q1 was mocked by the TV commentators, as if they thought it was incorrectly paid (something about 9 metres was said in an authoritative tone).

One of those urban myths that if you're in your defensive goal square and an opponent is also in the goal square, then you are allowed to kick it through at goal post height if you want.

Genuinely under siege for the first time all season in the second quarter. And we gave up one scoring shot.

Defence is elite. Lock down when we're on the back foot. Rebound and spread on the front foot.

Adelaide appear to be the biggest threat to the way we play. Need them to go out.

And that single scoring shot only occurred due dreadful error outside 50. Come to think of it, Adelaide’s last goal was very similar.

Ponter and Marinoff were not given space to do their customary Hollywood flyby stoppage clearances. If they took possession at speed, they were stopped in their tracks. Ponter also wasn't given any leeway for her diving.

I can’t work out who comes out for Kearney

Bresnahan seems to obvious choice but she’s not the type of player to be dropped. She had a dirty night though

Craven wasn’t great but love her foot skills

Smith was odds on at half time but played a great second half

Tough call

All of my friends with me were nervous at half time but I knew we'd pull it together.

Oh also, Eliza Shannon would be unbelievably stiff to get dropped, I thought she was brilliant. Back 6 made errors at times but to stave off Adelaide when they were pressing relentlessly in the first half was MIGHTY.

Also move over Shaun Smith mark of the century, the real Smith highlight is Amy's clutch goal
