I wish I was on that side of the wing C.G. as I can't help myself when the bad mouths come out and would have had a go at them if there.

Please don't paint us all with the same brush as you've got it wrong.

By the way if you're so proud of "our" club, would you kindly amend your avatar to show Carlton as your team. O.K.?

The same idiots were abusing Warnock. Not a lot more he could have done to press for selection (maybe take a few more pack marks) as he was great today.

I'm sorry I missed them as there was no cause to abuse anyone today or any day for that matter.

I heard the ironic cheers but not the abuse. If any of those people do read these forums or participate here, they can GAGF.

A nice afternoon out at Visy Park. Handy crowd in & the ground, other than the sandpit in the middle looked great. Obviously the opposition were ordinary today, but credit to them for not dropping their heads, despite being way out of their depth. I will give a quick rundown of my impressions of the Carlton listed players in today's game.

Bell: After a start which was reminiscent of his struggles last week, he worked his way into the game in the second quarter & after half time was an absolute dynamo. It was great to see him running hard, winning contested possessions & mostly using the ball well. His 2 goals were great reward for his hard work.

Cachia: Looked good when he had the ball in hand. Does a lot of grunt work at centre bounces, but didn't really have an impact on the game. His disposal is certainly better than it was when he was last at the club. If he could consistently get 20+ possessions, he would be pushing for elevation should the opportunity present itself later in the season.

Casboult: Battled hard, but struggled to gain separation from his opponent. Missed both of his shots on goal (both from in front), but as stated by Chris Griffin above, he kept at it & did not drop his head. Finished the game at 3/4 time & I spotted him carrying his bag into the training centre, not having bothered to change.

Collins: Didn't see a lot of the ball, butchered it a little bit when he did, didn't have any impact on the game, but will be better for the run.

Curnow: As I said after the practice match 2 weeks ago, you know exactly what you are going to get from Ed. Getting in & under & winning lots of hard balls & feeding his teammates with plenty of possessions. He did plenty of this today, managed to get outside occasionally, but he is best served doing the grunt work & letting his more skilful teammates put the icing on the cake.

Duigan: Was serviceable in defence. Once again his disposal let him down at times. Was overshadowed by White in defence, so we probably won't see him back in the seniors in the near future.

Ellard: A good first up effort from Ellard. Displayed his usual 100% commitment to everything he does & was rewarded with 3 goals. Will be pushing for senior selection within a couple of weeks.

Laidler: Surprising started forward, but in the first half particularly, looked quite at home up there. Finished the game with 3 goals & probably gave the coaching staff some food for thought. Seemed to be running on top of the ground a bit more today.

McCarthy: Played in defence today & worked well in partnership with White & Watson. Particularly prominent early on, went quiet through the middle stages of the game, but had a good last quarter. He marked confidently & his kicking was mostly precise.

Menzel: This kid oozes class. He kicked 4.3, yet only flashed in & out of the game. Took a couple of good contest marks, but gets a bit lost on the HFF. The fact that he kicked 4 goals, yet had periods of time when he was unsighted suggests he will hurt teams, even when getting limited opportunities.

Mitchell: Kicked 3 goals, moved a lot better than when I saw him 2 weeks ago, but I felt he didn't demand the ball enough from his teammates.

Temay: Is still a bit off the pace of the game. Struggled to keep up with his opponent on the lead & didn't do anything that said he is going to be pushing for senior selection soon. On the plus side, on the few occasions he did get the ball, he demonstrated that he is a good user of the ball.

Warnock: Absolutely dominated the rucks, with a number of hitouts to advantage. Moved well around the ground & his disposal was mostly spot on. Certainly put his name before the senior Match Committee.

Watson: His spoiling was excellent today, as was his disposal, the word 'clinical' came to mind with the way he was kicking today. Is the general in the backline, constantly barking instructions to his teammates in defence.

White: Our best defender today. Marked most things that came his way & used the ball well. Kicked the last goal of the match. Definitely put his hand up for promotion to the seniors should a position be available.

Was impressed with the way Duigan marshalled the team at 3 quarter time before the coaches got on the ground. Letting the boys know Bendigo having 6 shots at goal was unacceptable. Future coach in the making.

In saying Menzel looked a bit lost at HFF Mediumsizered, did he look like he wanted to be running through the midfield or was he more comfortable deeper in the forward line?
Definitely looked more comfortable when deeper in the forward line. His hurt factor will be increased by playing him as close to goal as structures allow. Dare I say, he could be to us, what Steve Johnson was for Geelong in their premiership years.

Didn't notice that S7G.

Still see Duigan as being of great benefit in getting Watson, McCarthy, Mitchell and co. ready for the next level.

Hope he doesn't feel unwanted at the lower level as he makes for a terrific on-field coach.

Yep, completely agree with this... He'd also noticed that the players were getting snippy at one another and was able to make it evident that that wasn't okay.

Seeing the focus on his face close up, you get the feeling he is going to be treating a stint in the 2s a bit differently to like TBird

He made his points to the other defenders in a very measured way. Definitely future coaching material.

I'd just be so much happier once McCarthy is a little heavier and has a little more confidence in his body.

There are times you have to wonder whether he's really going in as hard as he can.

He had a ripping game yesterday, and only looks a matter of time until he gets a game at senior level. Would really love to see him make it at CHB, which will hopefully release Henderson to the forward line.

To the pitiful, petulant disgusting individuals that were sitting on the city side wing at today's game, and I can confirm some would be bf "tragics", you make me sick!

I take offence to this CG. I was at the ground and sitting on the city wing, and do not want to be painted with this BF tragic brush. I suspect the people you heard were the FLOGS that call themselves the unofficial selection committee - a bunch of brain dead old farts that take fot shots at players from the safety of the other side of the fence.

Golden Performance
“Mick (Malthouse) spoke to him about looking at different positions and adding another string to his bow. Jeremy grew up as a junior playing forward, so this week we were able to give him the opportunity to play a key position for us and he performed really well.”
Golden Performance

Is Mick copying Ratten's plan to send Bower and Jamison forward? :p:D

I will firstly clarify that I have no personal association with Levi Casboult. Don't know the guy.

A kid that is busting a gut but is obviously not having a great time of it lately to be booed and jeered by his own supporters when they are flogging another team is the most disappointing thing I have seen at a football ground in a long time.

As a recent follower of NB and Carlton due to another association, It really just does prove what I have been told, carlton supporters really eat their own.

I can picture every one of you right now and I can bet you will all be sitting at your computer right now flogging yourself over your uneducated ideas on the game of AFL.

How disappointing for our great game and a proud club.
I was sitting to the right (facing the ground) of those idiots. I've already commented in another thread. It was pretty disgusting. And the worst thing, I thought, was the 10-12 y.o. boy screaming abuse at Cas. I wish I'd had the gumption to say something but instead spent the rest of the day muttering abuse under my breath.

A quick clip to the back of the head may have gone unnoticed ODNB ;)

I'm sure I wouldn't have seen it had have I been there.
