positives- after listening to 2 great games on the radio/net here in WA I got to watch a game on the VFL app
negative-I had to watch the game

This was the same bunch of blokes?
Have had plenty to talk about thus far on Brekkie with the Blues about the depth and development in the VFL
Lucky next week I will be busy with Ironman Busselton duties.

Anyway...

Finbar and BSOS a mile off it if they ever make it. Same goes for Schuey.

Goddard not AFL standard.

Macreadie really needs to blow those cobwebs out.

Lang staring a delisting in the face.

Polson 1 tackle. Shrugged off a number of times. Not good enough at the moment.

Phillips and Lobbe - nup. Both facing delisting.

Paddy Kerr a real disappointment. So easily pushed off the ball.

Fas - at least has smarts. But VFL is about his gallop.

Willo - built nicely into the game. I’d get him into the senior team just to get him away from the rubbish that is the VFL side.

Kennedy - OK. Not making a loud enough statement though he was our best mid by a country mile.

Stocker - looked good in the middle. Doesn’t have the tank as yet. Has all the right attributes though.

Wouldn’t go anywhere near Anderson or Fisher for the mid-year draft. Look elsewhere.

Excellent observations

Well, the main thing was getting a game into Williamson. Get him into the 1s next week.
Also Stocker looks very clean and clever. I think he would benefit from getting a taste of AFL soon so he can understand the standard he needs to get to.

I still have no idea why we (and all the other clubs) overlooked Sydney Stack in the draft. There must’ve been some crazy red flags there because I cannot understand how you would take any of BSOS, Finbar or the rookies ahead of him.

how many games has stack played?

Kennedy looked lazy. Watched him closely off the ball today and just didn’t seem to be able to push to enough contests. Not sure if he is up to it.

Stocker has everything we need. Should be next in line for selection. Tough kid

Willo looked ok needs more time in the 2s. Would love to have his kicking in the seniors soon.

BSOS is raw but long term I think he will be alright. Time and size is what he needs.

They were the ones I watched today but tough game to make too many judgments

Saw a small portion of last quarter.
Williamson looks too good for this grade,
Very small amounts saw of Stocker he moves well.

The scoreboard though, a shocker as a team.
Did not see Cuningham or Garlett so assume they going to Tasmania as emergencies tomorrow.
I smell Charlie probably still an out with two of them going,

They are definitely in Tassie and were spotted at training earlier today.

AWG has posted pics in the training thread.

Stack was an alcoholic - no joke full blown alco. Worse behaved than Dayle Garlett.

He needed to get out of Perth and Richmond took the punt on him as they can afford to and have a group of older senior heads to look after him. We’re nowhere near that position, completely understandable why we didn’t pick him up.

Didn’t see the game but sounds disappointing. Not writing off BSOS but thought at the time we probably should have gone for a mid or small forward late in the draft - we are completely stocked for talls and BSOS is underdeveloped and nobody else was going to take him. Could’ve rookied him or picked him up a few years later as a mature age.

We would have had a better run with the frees if we got the Werribee's runner to be the umpire.

That said it was a really disappointing day.

Played the conditions really poorly. Good 3 goal wind to the Lygon St end. Werribee ran the ball kicked short into the wind

LOB will want a good game otherwise either Stocker or Willo will be in the side next week.

Very disappointing effort. The work rate was abysmal. For some, it looked like they didn't want to be there. Hopefully it was just an off day.

I think Stocker will eventually benefit from playing at a higher level. He was certainly the best user of the ball out there today.

Willo probably needs another couple of games under his belt at this level & then should be cherry ripe.

Kennedy seemed to be channelling Brock McLean today. Got his hands on the ball on a number of occasions, but mostly got wrapped up in tackles, leading to either an ineffective disposal or no disposal at all.

I thought Fasolo looked like our most dangerous forward out there today, but in a forward line that barely gave a yelp, this was probably not hard to achieve.

Kerr really set his cause back today. He just did not seem up for the contest. I know he is better than what he displayed today.

I noticed Owies getting front & centre at some marking contests inside our F50 & gathered the crumb on a handful of occasions, but was not able to capitalise on this.

Macreadie looked a long way off it today. He will definitely need a lengthy stretch at VFL level before he comes into consideration for higher honours.

Schuey let himself down with his disposal & decision making today. Having been a late draft pick he was always going to be a work in progress & it currently shows.

Sam Fisher really disappointed me today. He had put together a string of good games late last season & through the pre-season & 1st couple of games this year, but he was way off it today. I expect he was having an off day like so many of his teammates.

17 clubs passed on Stack repeatedly, not just us

Yes, I did mention that. Obviously we’re not privy (nor should we be) to every personal detail about a player and evidently the red flags were significant. Just basing the comment on what is visible to us all and that is their onfield performance which in Stack’s case, was no secret last year and already impressive this year.
