Hey guys
I was just wondering if anyone has any updates on the Northern Bullants vs Geelong game that i read in the paper was this morning at 9:40, or if anyone could tell me where i could find some, as i would like to know how some of our younger players are going.
If there are some reports in another thread, please tell me and you can close this one,
Thanks :)

Just going on the info from the Sportingpulse page there doesn't seem much. Russell may come into calculations, perhaps Bentley if the Hawthorn debacle hasn't ruled him out forever (which it has for me, but perhaps it is unfair to never reconsider him) and ELLARD has performed pretty well all year and should come into consideration. Cloke perhaps, but I don't see him providing any of the answers we are seeking unless we just want someone to crunch packs at CHF, but his downside is too great for mine. And he would offer us nothing against Sandilands in the ruck - not that you can blame him for that, he can't help it that he's not big enough.

Nothing to suggest Bentick, Hadley, Johnson, Anderson, Garlett, Yarran Wiggins or Hartlett promoted their chances, which is a pity, but I am not one for putting much faith in the best players as published, far rather wait for any posters who were there.

Ellard would need to be elevated so I do not think we will see him unless somebody goes down (which even I do not want)
Hopefully he is showing enough to be retained and elevated for 2010

thanks for the report

Might create a mismatch if Cloke did play. Freo do not have BIG bodies other than Sandilands. Not sure if it would work in our favour or theirs
Not enough room for Fev Carlos and Cloke I don't think in the fwd line and Carlos has been OKish

Hey guys. Quick report on the game and some of your players...

I will admit our side turned up to play. alot of the time The bullants would get the ball and have nothing to kick to.

Cloke was a standout imo. Played mostly in the ruck but kicked a couple down forward and may have got 1 or 2 from the ruck drifting down but missed a soda from the goal square.

Ellard i think was number 50? he played on Matty Stokes and was trying to rough him up and Stokes barely did anything apart from a couple of late goals. I think Joseph has him covered easy for that spot in your senior side though.

Hadley didn't do much we had Kane Tenace playing on him from what i saw when he was in the midfield and Tenace got 3rd best for us.

Didnt even notice Bentick playing.

37? Edwards i think...Played on Podsiadly who kicked 6.2

Garlett is a very lazy footballer he doesn't hardly move and Yarren is quite the same. Both were very quiet.

Thats all i can really think of for you guys.

Cloke is not the answer. He kicked 5 of those 8 goals against his brother, Jason, so that doesn't count as he may have had some balls that day + he didn't back it up the following game.
We'd be better off with Setanta for CHF (his marking on Friday, before copping some friendly fire, was pretty impressive), and failing that trying Hartlett to see if he can actually play @ AFL level and remain on the list post this season + he's been in the best most weeks for the Bullants, though also playing down back most times.
Kreuzer will have to be the key up forward if Warnock and Hampson can shoulder the ruck upon Warnock's return.

Thanks everyone for the replies :)
good to see Ellard in the best again,
hopefully we can elevate him and give him a go soon :) ( I dont want anyone to get injured though) but I am looking forward to seeing him play.
Go Blues :)

He's already played (against WCE last year @ Subi) & don't see too much there to entice elevation at the expense of anyone else ATM.
Then again, we do need to get rid of Wiggins, Cloke, Bannister,......

I still say bring Yarran in...
and prehaps Cloke but not neccessarily because he's been kicking goals but at least he's a stronger body to go with Sandillands. We will be crushed in the ruck there's no use in trying to win the HO but at the very least Cloke could provide for Kreuzer to play out of the goal square. Cloke and Hammer to share the rucking duties.

I know that - kicked a great goal in a great win
Good WA kid who has worked his butt off. Deserves a shot as much as anyone (would have been nice to have seen him again in front of his devoted wablues)
It is good that Ellard is playing hard and well without much of a chance to get into the Blues team. Show a lot about his character. Many others would have sooked and not got stuck in like a few recent WA kids that were delisted. Not the biggest, fastest or most skillfull but has a crack. Hope he is retained and elevated next year.

Yes, Yarran needs to play - especially @ Subi. He also needs to pull his finger out & apply some pressure, pace and a small forward's presence around packs. His skills are sublime when on song.

Cloke; good point & almost had me for his re-inclusion but didn't Collingwood ruck with only Fraser against Sandlilands & backup of only L.Brown?
I know he always kills us but it goes to show that we could possibly ruck Hammer the majority of the day with back up shared between Carlos & Kreuzer (when Sandilands has a spell), with them sharing forward line duties throughout the match.
Just don't know how tall we can go if we also have Cloke warming the bench as well, alternating with Hammer.

With Pavlich out they may run Sandilands more up fwd so we will need somebody with height and/or bulk to move him. Hampson does not seem to have the best hand eye coordination or reaction speed. Perhaps Cloke would be a better alternative in a defensive role

Well if true, that's a real pity, because usually he's the one who really tries and uses his great pace (from what I've seen at AFL level anyway). So that's a bit weird, but maybe he has an injury concern. OR maybe he just didn't give a stuff, but I'd doubt it.

Yarran is an interesting one though. By all reports he really isn't setting the world on fire in the Ants, but I do have a feeling he'd show more in the Blues side. I'm probably completely wrong, but that's just the sort of player he comes across to me. So maybe he'll get a run versus Freo, who knows. Selections this week is going to be very interesting/exciting regardless.
