Plans are well advanced for the 2008 season debut of the Northern Saints Football Club in the EDFL B Grade. The Moreland City Council have agreed on some renovations to the Social club although much more is planned over the next year or two. We might even paint the Visitors rooms a nice shade of pink hahaha:cool:

The Northern Saints first event looks to be the Fawkner Festival on the 28th of October as the new Club is introduced to the Fawkner community.

We are looking for a senior Coach(Messers hird, buckley, grant, kouta, must all go through the process no shortcuts for anyone:p) for next season and sponsors are starting to come out of the woodwork.

Our doors are open to all who wish to help establish this new Vibrant Club in an area not seen in the EDFL before.

Go Northern Saints

Well The Northern Saints have a Coach, former Coburg VFL footballer Matthew "Mocca" O'Conner is Senior Playing Coach. Naz Gualano who has previously coached Moomba Park (3 flags)and Fawkner Park Reserves for two years and former President of Fawkner Park juniors for three years is our reserves coach. He also is coming back to Mutton Reserve after the last couple of years coaching under 16's at Greenvale.

What theres a Cricket Club playing there..... Oh Damn.

Of course we have been talking to Pascoe Vale CC that is based at Mutton Reserve. They have Milo cricket on Sunday Mornings and have been wonderfully understanding as we get the Renovations underway in the rooms.

what a joke tess your wasting your time both clubs have no futher!!!

We maybe, but time will tell. Fawkner Park and North Coburg were about 1 km apart, we both pitched at the same sponsors and the same group of youngsters for players. North Coburg were less than 3 Kms from 4-5 clubs that compete for the same as well.

The Northern Saints have a line from Bell St to Craigieburn all to ourselves. The Closest Clubs to us are Resevior over the creek in the NFL and Glenroy hidden away behind the Cemetery, East Coburg is gone, North Fawkner in Campbellfield is gone as well as any Club in Broadmeadows our side of Pacco Rd. Individually we are NOT strong clubs, but together our turnover will be over the big Tee double U Ooh and that is something that will grow ever year from 2008.

With The formation of the Northern Saints in Fawkner we have also helped the EDFL expand without the drama of a bye weekend adding Sunbury would have created.

Thanks for all the best wishes anyway peoples. Don't be scared OK, I doubt we will get the same deal from the EDFL that the Brisbane/Fitzroy merge got from the AFL to win 3 in a row.

good luck for 2008, i know a few of the pacco vale united cricket boys will be coming down on saturdays to watch as some of their teamates play there, oscar demirtis and big tony capparelli(who reckons he could be an 100 goal kicker in the twos).

Hi guys,
a bit new to this but here are a couple of things you may want to know.

The Northern Saints takes its name from the roots of both clubs. North Coburg being originally St Olivers and Fawkner being St Marks, so the Saints is a good link to both pasts.

As for welcoming guys who have previously played at either BOPS or Fawkner, well of course you are welcome. It is about players from two clubs who have been below par recently, coming together to try and stregthen their standing in the league.

Bring on 2008 it should, if nothing else, be exciting.
Jump on board and lets go for a ride.
Go Northern Saints!

BUMP!

I've been informed that the advertised AFL players may not be a reality, but we do have officials from at least one AFL Club coming to our big launch day.

The BBQ is catering to both our traditional Aussie style snags but we will also have a 2nd BBQ fired up with 100% Halal snags for our Muslim friends.

It's a lovely day and a good start to a BRAND NEW club can only be a good thing, it would have been a pity if Footy was lost to the area.
