The Australian government has been slammed for its handling of the Novak Djokovic saga following the news he will be deported and will miss the Australian Open.

He chose to come after not being granted a Visa based on Craig Tilley's advice? Like he has more authority than the government?

I think (and I stand to be corrected here) he was told (as was Tiley) that he would be granted a visa with an exemption (essentially worker maybe) then the immigration department decided to revoke it whilst he was in transit.

It was poorly handled (noting that that exact scenario happens often with non celebs)

I think both are essentially true.

Novak could have ignored it but equally (and imo even more so) chompers should have just done his cross without being a ****wit.

Chompers was unprofessional and unfunny at best and rude and a little racist at worst. Makes no sense to me how he keeps a gig tbh. Novak could have laughed it all off as well but I actually suspect the mocking of the Serbian fans coupled with the “joke” about kicking him out was he main reasoning for acting on it.

Feels worth noting that Ben Shelton has also called out the Aus media for its poor behaviour towards players.
